Tbh, I think nothing less than the army will sort out what's going to happen in a few days time.
To be quite honest, water cannon should be brought in, and this scum given a good long hard soaking. I think it's going to get very bad on wednesday.
Shysmum....
Have messaged the northumbria police to tell them we think they are fab - hope that's ok. x
It's likely the horses are from Cleveland police as they are the only force in the north east to have a mounted branch now.
I wonder what breeds they use, and their training techniques, to create such calm but bold horses? Some retired mounted cop needs to write a book, and give us some tips. I'd be very proud to have such wonderful police horses on the beat where I live.
My gf did a project in college into this as she was thinking of joining the mounted section but chose to study Law at degree level instead.
From what I gather they are, erm, luke-warmbloods! (just made that up, right on the spot.) Draught breeds with a little dash of TB or something spicy. But not enough to really warrant being called warmblood. Pretty much like a full Irish Draught. But there are Shire x TB and other such mixes.
They need to be pretty fit but have a level headedness and sturdy nature to optimise in training. So the luke-warmblood, or an ID is perfect!
Also, RE: people mentioning where the horses came from, the Northumbria mounted section isn't big enough, so they paid for the South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire sections to lend a hoof. West Yorkshire Police Horses were tweeting pictures of them all assembling in a car park somewhere in Newcastle...was an impressive sight!
