If you place your hand between neds ears, do you feel a “bony lump”, presumably the poll? It feels horrible so I went round our barn and felt on the rest - the other Warmblood (about 11yrs old) has same, but not as prominent as my horse (3yr old). If you cupped your hand and curled your fingers as though over a lip of something it’s about as large as that. The Shetland I couldn’t tell cos of all his mane and forelock and general bushiness. My friend has a 4yr old which also it quite prominent - not as much as mine but more than the older horse.

It feels like a stupid question and I’m almost feared to ask if it’s an area they grow into, like knitted knees and the obvious sign of bum highness….I’m feared as he’s already 17hh ???

very prominent in my TBs (3 and 11 yo) much more so than the others. can't feel it the same on the welsh at all. i would guess it's dependent on the type of horse ? my others are all part breds or natives. when my vet was scanning the welshies tendon once he said it was hard to image because her skin was thicker than say a TB's. i guess that would be a part of it, there's not a lot of covering there other than skin is there? nuchal ligament attaches to the poll but I would think that's behind the bony bit.

Hmm, interesting as he’s zangershiede registered. Well, I’ll randomly be stroking every horse I meet now between the ears ?
