Hoping that someone might be able to answer my Sunday morning query!! I have seen a lovely simple Stockman's bridle with brass fittings that would be a great summer/spare bridle - it is marketed as a polo-crosse bridle but also available on a driving and harness website. Here: https://www.harnessstuff.co.uk/collections/bridles/products/aintree-barcoo-bridle.

It has no noseband so I guess the noseband, if you use one, has to just sit under the headpiece as it would on a traditional bridle? Having looked at some polocrosse pics it looks like nosebands are very much 'voluntary' or possibly rope based ones. For riding out I only really need a noseband to attach a nose net to and wondering what folk might suggest could be comfortable/simple to go with this?

Anyone got any experience of these bridles - I love the look and simplicity and I don't need a 'smart' bridle as I have one already? This would just be for hacking/having fun!! Thanks.

I have the problem of a nose net on a hackamore so I put a head collar on and attach it to that. No more trouble than a noseband and at least it has some use if needed or if you stop for lunch. It does look to be a nice bridle but the reins would put me off. I rode yesterday in the rain with leather reins. Today I changed them quickly to ones with some grip. :D

Yes, it looks a lovely simple and sturdy bridle but I agree about the reins though they probably wouldn't be a deal breaker for me!

They use these, and plastic versions of, in Australia unsurprisingly (!). They don't tend to use nosebands at all. Just had a quick flick through old pictures to double check.

There might be a problem with a normal noseband as there's nothing to hold the headpiece because the browband is attached with a ring. You might be able to loop the headpiece of the noseband over the top of the headpiece and back through the ring iykwim?

A strap through the cheek pieces seems the best idea

Just for a chuckle the horse on the right has a bridle similar to yours on when I looked at my photos...but check out the good old aussie stockman leg position (due to stock saddle)!

Hahaha!! Yes, I love it and the noseband looks like it would be just the job; no need for anything going over the head. :) Thanks for that.

Would a rope halter work? Lightweight under or over the top but with a noseband to attach the nosenet.

Yep, that is an option too. Thanks. Going for a measure up to find out what size bridle might be best; they don't look hugely adjustable...
