Well you welcome to meet our Welsh who range from Sec A's , B's, C's & D's and you might change your opinion
I even rode one Sec D while I only had the use of one leg and was on crutches we competed in afew Hoys quals while I was injured and he could have taken complete control if he wished but he looked after me I wouldnt have trusted anything else I have had over the years
Do beleive that some people especially ones who show welsh youngstock have this thing about whizzing them up - a lot never see the light of day during the show season ...totally ruins a lot of potential good young horses. Not the breeds fault they were bred to shepherd on the welsh hills and no farmer would have wanted a total nutter to do that...it is us humans who turn them into these hyped up animals normally as youngsters as they seem to want them like that to show inhand . We prefer to have youngsters who have not been shown in hand for this very reason. We have just broken a very nice Sec C she grew up naturally at her breeders and has spent most of her 4yr old year with us out at grass maturing...she is as quiet as a lamb our part time girl is doing her road work and my OH rides her too ...not a hint of bolshiness and she was virtually unhandled until we had her 12 months ago and since then she has been out in the field most of the time only being handled for worming and feet trimming ...she was shod for the first time today ...no bad manners stood quietly tied up with her haynet for our farrier....
