My pony has been living out for the past two years, but is now coming in at night.
I started bringing him in 2 weeks ago. I have been giving him ad lib hay (mainly as his old owners had said he can't be stabled as he weaves - so want to ensure he has enough hay to last all night) - he's been getting through most of it most nights!
Problem is we are in SE where there is a hay issue, so it is this years hay. As a result he has a bit of an upset tummy. His 'poo' is quite normal (just a bit softer than usual) - but there is also water coming out when he passes wind. This is sticking to his coat and its hard to get off without him kicking me! I'm going to try and wash it and put sudo cream on tomorro - but its a dangerous job! I'm also worried about him starting to lose weight.
We are worming this weekend and I have the vet coming for my other horses jabs next week so can get their advice - but just wondered if anyone had any tips.
He gets a scoop of happy hoof for dinner / breakast and I did add alfa bee today - but wonder if i should cut that out until his tummy is back to normal? I can't find any old hay (everyone around this area has the same problem) - would soaking the new stuff be a good idea??
