poo picking is my life!

I have a tractor and I have harrows but since learning that worm eggs can survive for over 12 months and even at sub-zero temperatures, it worries me to do it. Fine where the climate is sunny and dry, but in the humid climate of the UK?

Also, harrowing might be OK where pastures can be rested, but for how long? Sorry to worry you! I think harrowing can be fine, but it all depends.

Urgh I loath it! Doing it once pet week in a field with one horse and get a full wheel barrow full. It's just soo heavy :( no one else seems to do it though :\

oh noes, horses are hard work and having multiple horses on insufficient grazing is harder work? why did noone tell me! lol!

I have 3, total DIY in paddocks of 4 acres ans 1.5. takes me a couple of hours at weekends and muckheap is at far end. I still keep 2 in work (one is 2yo).

when I was a freelance groom I was paid to do it and thats fine, we all have better things to do. but, horses are hard work and/or expensive-if they aren't, you aren't doing it right.

I too love poo picking (& no I'm not crazy honest) :)

My mare is on restricted grazing so I like to keep my field well maintained.

I poo pick every weekday morning before work, helps me relax/chill prior to starting my hectic day job :)

Fortunately convinced paddock owners that at almost 60 I really can't be picking up the poo's - I pay a friends son to bring the tractor and harrows down the road every couple of months and harrow for me. I only pick up when they are in the very small paddocks.

When I was poo picking I had rubber gloves a good sized dustpan and a low laundry basket with a long rope on it. Dragged it around finding it easier than using a wheelbarrow. One of mine seems to poo for NZ I've never seen so many poo's. His paddocks are harrowed by one of the other grazers in return for the grazing. Lucky me!

I did all my poo picking until three weeks ago when my back decided to go on strike. I have now found a wonderful lady who comes once a day and charges £7 an hour. Total bliss! I can now spend all my free time playing with the horses.

I poo pick the small paddocks through the spring and summer, the horses come in during the day once the flies are about, so I'm mucking out/poo picking an awful lot. I'd rather muck out than poo pick though. Pushing big barrows full of poo is hard on my hips. They have been out 24hrs now for about 3 weeks, it's bliss and I can get some sleep at night...poor old b*99er :D
