Whilst poo picking this moring, my dog Bruno was very interested in something in the long grass, which was making quite a noise. Bruno never hurts anything, so thinking it was a bird I went to see what he was looking at. It was a wild rabbit who, when prodded, squealed really loudly (I've never heard one make a noise before) and tried to move.... It couldn't. My 30 yr old daughter was with me we discussed what to do as it was obviously in pain and the bone in its leg was visible where the skin was ripped off. Neither of us wanted to kill it, but knew we should, so my mothering instinct took over as I couldn't let my daughter do it, so I steeled myself over about 5 mins and quickly killed it with the poo picking rake over the back of the kneck. When we picked it up, we saw it also had a nasty wound on its stomach. I know I did the right thing, but I still feel awful about it.
