poor little yearling

I emailed them and asked about her and the owner said she clipped her because she came to her with her winter coat still on...

Do you think shes worth seeing? i know shes poor etc and looks as though she needs attention. Not for me but i have an experienced family member who is looking for a youngster and planning to pick something up from the sales.
Shes not far from us either..........

Yeah, right. Lice or hanging on to the coat because she's so poor.

Only go to see her if you are prepared to bring her home, regardless of what you see.

And I would suspect that these horses have very recently been bought from market and being passed on quickly at a profit.

Either way, bless them.

I bought my little Welsh from these guys, i'm really shocked they're selling a horse in this state.
They told me they went to Brecon sales and picked up a Fell gelding (which my mum wants) but, lord knows what else they picked up.
The coloured gelding below the filly is the one i'm interested in, I rode him the last time I was up there and he was an angel, such a sweet little horse too :(

But, their idealistics are without a doubt not the same as ours, in any case I think selling a horse in that state is horrible. They do different work...? I don't know all that trotting stuff? I'm not even really sure it's a valid "thing"...confusing none the less.
I know the coloured gelding is out in a small field with a few other horses and there was alot of grass as they'd only just put them in there.

I noticed a good few of the bigger (14hh+) horses where a little skinny for my liking (I like my horses squishy...but not obese!) but i've seen a lot worse. They had a little Iron grey cob (foal...don't know if it was a filly or colt) that they'd got because it was so thin, it was definitely still ribby but you could see he was getting good grass, hay etc;

I'm really baffled as to why they have done this, as what I have seen of them, different as they may be, they were nice enough people :(

Will be ringing them today...

You would indeed think that they would feed them up and get them looking better before selling on...........if indeed they did come straight from the sales. Surely they are giving themselves a bad rep if they are advertising them whilst they are looking like happa cases??

Look like market ponies and this is a dealer - just google the phone number.

I would be very wary and would rather buy from the market myself.

Possibly a call to the local WHW field officer is in order?

What surprised me is I thought the trick in dealing was to buy in something poor, smarten and feed them up do a bit of work and then re-advertise.

These guys seem straight off the lorry and onto the sales ads.

the little bay filly looks like she has a lump on the underside of her neck but not sure what that could be. i would definatley be prepared to bring her home if you went to see her, i know i would because you'll find it hard to leave her in those conditions after seeing her.

the coloured underneath looks like he could be lovely with a bit of weight on him. if only they where closer .............. :P

I also asked on my email what breeding she was and the reply was a ''riden horse'' these people have lots of horses on there, usually youngster with a lump sat on the back or children. They have been reported over previous adverts but obviously nothings been done. They apparently rent hundreds of acres off the council somewhere that used to be a hospital or school or something. Danielle you know them dont you or is that another Danielle? Weren't you going to send them a youngster to break in?

The lump on the neck, if you look closely, is the arm of the person standing behind this filly holding its head up!

Ah! yes your right about the *lump*
Kidderminster is quite a big built up town, i live about 25 mins away, just wondering as to whereabouts and what side of kidderminster they actually are.

Yes and the youngster came back brilliant. No condition loss, no behavioural problems and he's been easy going since.
Not my type of horse as he was intended for my mum, unfortunatly he hasn't made the height for her.
None the less, he's now being long reined, hacked and doing light work in the school a few times a week.
I gather you are from one of those "rescue" sites? The ones I left for a reason ^_^ Ah, the hours of humor they gave me.

[EDIT]
Also, he was already backed, but we had a few problems with him on the ground (rearing, plunging, biting etc; )
I gave them the nefit of the doubt and here we are, perfect youngester, a bit rough round the edges but the basics are sorted.

That's what I thought, seems odd they would advertise something that looks like that...I'm getting some suspitions, but, i'll keep them in my head for now...
I have a plan, but, well...i'll keep that in my head too, if anything comes of it HHO will be the first place I post ;)

Such a shame to see horses like this, such poor condition :( at least they are for sale and will hopefully get good homes. They will turn into good horses I would imagine. RSPCA did come to mind when I saw their ads.

that first one is awful!

the coloured coludbe nice with a bit of weight.....

why do people think its ok to have horses in this condition?!

Me. She's in my stable as we speak, on a thick bed of straw to protect her bones, noshing on a pile of finest hay. I haven't told my husband yet. I'm going to be in SUCH trouble.
