Seems to have settled loads overnight thank goodness - she is bandaged back up now. You cannot see the coronet band injury properly which is a shame, but it is deffo getting better

I think I will deffo put some strips on the aluminium so if this ever happens again the horse has some grip - as you can see, there was nothing for her to get any grip on.

Yes she seems sound enough, I didn't trot her up as the yard was covered in hail and I did NOT want another episode

Doesn't seem to be any worrying heat for now either so hopefully we got off VERY lightly.

Oh dear.Same trailer marks as my pony makes.I took away the partition and X-tied her,she was much better.she seemed more comfortable standing diagonal.have not been anywhere for ages so will be like starting over.

Her leg looks fine - she was lucky.

I can't believe how much mess your trailer is in though! I think that is a great idea of yours to line it with rubber.

Yep, it looks grand this morning, looked more dramatic yesterday of course, but she has just taken the hair and first layer of skin off by the look of it - coronet injury is a good gash, but I am confident that it will be OK.

Yes the coronet one is the only one I would be cautious of. Hopefully it is also superficial and you won't have any issues with abnormal hoof growth.

To have gone through all that and then to go back in and travel well must be the sign of a great temperament. You have chosen well!

I am glad she hasn't hurt herself too badly.

Bottom half of the partition IS flexible rubber - however, I did put her straight back in without partition and she was super, so that is how she will travel from now on.

Yep, my mare did the same thing, same damage to her and trailer. Took out my partision and all is well, no problems now. Glad to see only supervisual damage and you all ok...

Louise, try and get hold of a conveyor belt company locally. My friend's husband owns one and he's given me loads of old belt. It's really thin and quite grippy on one side. Perfect for a trailer as it won't take much width off the inside.

I have loads of the stuff and am meant to be using it to line the walls in my brick stables. One of those "I will get around to it" jobs.

Not quite the Christening of then new trailer you had in mind, but thank God she looks so well. Could've been a hell of a lot worse. What a good girl to walk back on after going through such a fright.

Oh sh*t.

Poor Porridge and poor trailer. What a star she is for going back in! I hope you can get the trailer sorted. Ours has rubber up to about hock height, now I know why! Hope you have got over the experience. Big hug!

Eeeek, thats what the inside of my trailer looks like! I really must try and travel him without the partition, just so scared he'll fall over

I think mine already has a full length breastbar, just not a back one.

bloody hell Lou she really did get upset didn't she. Am glad her leg is starting to get better. Must have been very upsetting for you listening to her in the trailer.

we had a mare that did this EVERY time she went into a trailer.

i sold her on for a reduced sum as she wasn't 100% to travel.

guess what, they bought a lorry.........problem solved!

p.s..she still wont stand up in a trailer as theyve tried on numerous times, just one of those things.

ETS, glad her leg isnt too bad.

we have an arab who did something similar in the trailer except we opened the jockey door to get in and sort him out and he decided it would be a good idea to go out through the jockey door, all 15hh of him. He got his shoulders out but got his back end stuck and litterlay summersaulted onto the road. Ive got som pics of his lovely injuries to his legs. So we bought a box and the problem seems to have gone away

Thankfully the trailer looks to have taken the worst of it. Ps leg actually looks suprisingly well, and it hasnt blown which is great news

Bless, shes a toughie.

We shall have to organise another day very soon, as the ground is now perfect

Hugs to P.

Poor Porridge. Watch the coronet one .. it will prob grow down her hoof and you will have to get the farrier to sort it out in a few months. She came off relatively lightly when you see what the poor trailer looks like.

What a good horse for going back in tho. Many horses seem to prefer to travel without the partition in so she was obviously just letting you know this (mind you she could have been a bit more subtle about it
wink.gif
).

Thanks all, the trailer deffo came off worse! Yep Folara, am edgy about the coronet - farrier is out to shoe some others this week so going to get him to have a look and advise, but I suspect there is not much we can do for now

She really HAS got the most trusting temprament - breeding isn't for me, but she would make a SUPER brood on temp alone!

Lou dont worry too much about the coronet cut. Just keep it clean and dry if poss stay out of the sand school for a few days, just go for a hack.
Winston did something similar last autumn but sliced it about 2 inches across. Rich was worried about it because of where it was. But did the above and sprayed some good stuff I cant seem to get hold of now

Derma spray with codliver oil in it, and its now grown down fine.
