Hi folks

Looking for bit of help/advice. Iv sold a rug on ebay and the person thats bought it lives in Southern Ireland, Im in Scotland. I know it would have to go Airmail type thing and guessed the weight - boy was I wrong. Took it to the P.O this morning and they want :O £25 just to post the stupid thing!! Apparently I 'slightly' under estimated the weight of said rug and so it weighs packed just over 4kg - which I think is part of the problem. However I had only charged £8 for p&p - there is no way Im paying that much to post a rug!
Soo.. does anyone either in S. Ireland or who has experience of posting over there no if there are any cheaper alternatives or also if I can go back to the buyer and cancel the transaction and refund the paypal payment as its not feasable to do this the way I was told today.

Any advice asap would be great guys. Thanks

At work we post to Ireland regularly and do it by Parcel Force 48 hrs and yes it is hideously expensive.

I am not really sure how you will get out of that one, don't think you could renege on the deal as you had already stated the PP.

On the very few occassions I have sold anything on Ebay I have stipulated that the postage is to UK and that buyers outside of there contact for postage prices - I think!

When you sold the rug did you say "dispatch to UK only" in the posting part.

If so then you could contact the buyer highlighting this and if she still wants the rug posted then she can pay the additional PnP same thing happened to me last year with a saddle. Although that was £25 to post I think.

Sorry very sexist of me saying she. I mean the buyer. Whoops. Too much coffee and trying to do an all nighter to finish a uni assignment but distracted by this place. :D

BTW I gave the buyer the option to cancel once I highlighted that point

Lol toffee44 it is a 'she' anyway!
I did have in original posting that it was uk mainland only then sent her an invoice with airmail showing as £8 but didnt think atall it would be anywhere near that price - I cant affors to pay the extra out of my own pocket and so am hoping that she will either agree to cancel transaction and I will refund her money or offer to pay the extra - which I doubt as its only £10 cheaper than the rug itself!!
