Well, I found my new saddle today! Can't remember the make but know it's very short, very deep, has huge knee rolls - but still doesn't feel like it's pinning me in place  Or maybe I'm just too skinny :o
Dante moves a lot more freely and comfortably in it anyway, that's what matters!

So, I've sold one of MY saddles, but haven't got anything to post it in! :o I can't find a box big enough, and I have another to sell yet!

Is there any way I can post it without boxing it, or is it not worth the risk? I could really do with posting it tomorrow.... :/
Alternatively, anywhere good for finding giant cardboard boxes?!

So excited :D

Thanks,
Sol x.

Definitely don't post it without putting in a box. I wouldn't anyway. Do you have any local packaging companies or removal businesses near to you? They should be able to help.

why not try a local supermarket? They often have large boxes, and are only too happy for you to take them off their hands - saves them having to pay to recycle them. grab 2 while you're at it so when you sell the other one, you have a spare!

I have posted one without a box before, I put a strong card down the middle and padded it out so literally nothing could move, then covered it in bubble and wrapping and that clear wrap but the middle had like a frame of card so that it couldnt fold in. I think a box is much easier and safer however, try your local corner shop or supermarket?

Had this prob sending a dressage saddle abroad. Get two or three smaller boxes and lots of tape. cut and shape the boxes to fit round the saddle, bulking out the space inside it with bubble wrap, paper or air bags if you can find them. Then just tape tape tape all the way round it and it will be safe and sound. Mark as fragile and keep fingers crossed.

/\ this /\ was trying to work out a way of explaining it but couldnt get the words right! I had a saddle in the post like this before and it was fine. just plenty or cardboard on the 'knockable' parts (and loads of bubble wrap) then in a big plastic bag.

A lot of supermarket is shrink wrapped onto a tray.

I would suggest try local industrial estate where there are firms that might have a skip outside. My company and the one next door do throw out many boxes a day, they get folded up and put in the recycling skip which is always full.

I had this problem las week, had 4 saddles to post and no boxes.

I popped down the high street and asked at the independant electrical shop. They gave me some fridge\cooker boxes. Perfect.

I'd say you need boxes definatley. Try furniture shops - thats where i get mine for when i have to post saddles. when i bought a basket saddle it arrived just wrapped in black bin bags - needless to say i was pretty peeved! thankfully it wasnt damaged but i think i was very lucky.
