I.E. treating horses/ponies likes humans....

thinking that horses/ponies "think" like humans..

a horse/pony just gets "on with it".....maybe they havent had enough hay/water/the rug has slipped/oh, it -3, i' very cold.../my bedding isnt as thick as last nigh...etc, etc, etc,

NO...WAKE UP....SMELL THE COFFEE..HORSES DONT THINK LIKE THAT.......................

Omg there's me thinking they did!!

My poor little pony is out with a blanket clip and no rug do you think he'll be alright???

...my cob is as human as me,he even talks to me....he asks me where his breakfast is,have I done his dinner and did I launder a clean rug for him for tomorrow!Oh and have I made his bed!

I am a horse novice, (although I have trained and flown birds of prey, who are very similar in the way they think and react) so I don't post on many subjects, but I am bemused (or possibly amused) by the train of thought that says, 'ah, he does this because he knows it makes me laugh / cross / nervous'. Sorry, he does it because he wants to.

Of course the art is to make him do something you want him to, because he wants to

Quite right! My horse is my baby - he's not a working machine, he is a pet who I get pleasure from looking after.
I'd sooner hear about people who are a bit soppy so long as they are caring for their horses correctly.

you clearly need your glasses on tonight, I said 'if it gives their owners pleasure and causes no harm good luck to them.

Obviously if it was harmful that would be quite different - but it rarely is and the worst that usually happens is a spoilt and badly behaved horse

Well I'm soppy about my horse but he is unclipped, no rug, lives out and fed haylage - I'm soppy about him, I don't spoil him. Like a good mother would be to her baby!!!
