I'd sooner hear about people who are a bit soppy so long as they are caring for their horses correctly.

the soppy owners who over feed/over rug/treat them as humans/shut them in at night/feed them concentrates/feed them suplements/calmers/blah/blah/blah
oh of course....they are cared for "Correctly"!
how silly of me to think otherwise............
[/ QUOTE ]Erm, some horses need concentrates/rugging up.
I have a New Forest but I can't let her go through the winter without some sort of conditioner because she loses all her condition. I can't winter her out without a rug because she hates it! I've had her from two & it is not something that is through over-caring.
i've tried leaving her unrugged & without anything but hay the first winter I had her because she is a native but she started to look awful! It isn't a case of "treating them like humans" it is doing what is best for the individual horse or pony!!!

as i own/show foresters, i find that hard to believe.....
your's must be stud bred to be so soft..
[/ QUOTE ]Yes, she was bred in the Cotswolds. But as she is perfect for me I don't care that she needs a little bit extra in return.
The only thing I do insist on is good manners & respect. I don't spoil her but I do look after her & if she needs a rug & hard feed through the winter then so be it.
