Powerline kills 13 gundogs

Just appeared on my facebook timeline, what a terrible accident I know there are a lot of gundog owners on here, especially labs - apparently it was two cockers and 11 labs that lost their lives. Can't imagine what a nightmare scenario this must've been.

Awful. Hopefully my OH is right when he says 11000 volts will have been an instantaneous death for the dogs, but the owners must be devastated.

I’m turning my electricity off at my yard today, just in case. There’s one overhead cable that could potentially cause problems so not going to risk it.

Very sad indeed. I’m not very clever with electric but how did it actually get to them? I mean they won’t have all been touching the metal, unless in panic they did. It doesn’t flow through concrete floors does it ?

Of course the fluffy brigade are out in force vilifying the owner for daring to keep working dogs outside and not safely in the house.

Eeeek. I’ve got a bit of a fear of electric but always thought you had to actually be in contact with something. I’ll have to up my caution levels.
