Pre Christmas Weekend Plans

Amazing pics ladies, we'll done AE and chippers and dressagecob.

We jumped quickly this morning, did the clock exercise with 4 poles on 20m circle, then 2 jumps and two poles. Fionn and Daisy loved it.

Then we headed off to Belfast and Jack and the Beanstalk ❤

Looks like everyone has had a good time so far :).
This will probably seem boring to most but I a) rode my horse, b) didn't get thrown off, and c) actually had her happy and relaxed to go for a walk down the lane!48415287_10157009638821882_2647082644826750976_n.jpg(I am aware the bottom rein is on the wrong way and she needs a bigger bridle)
Fingers crossed this is the start of her being in regular work. She really really likes the Pelham so she can stay in that :).

Just to round off an AWESOME weekend, Baby-Pony got a red frilly at her debut show-jumping comp today. Woop woop.
We chose a venue we expected to be very quiet - especially in the rain this close to Christmas - and there were only a handful in each class. We were there to give her a stress free introduction to collecting rings, judge's bells, lorry parks etc. But she jumped a beautiful, fast clear over the 70cm course (it was not meant to be fast....) to win.

Amber jumped clear in her event too, but true to form I turned right instead of left after fence 11 and crossed my tracks. Another "well I did MY job mum" moment. Sorry Amber!

Ooops AE! well, why not finish 2018 as you started.
no piloting errors in 2019 ;)

I'm just back from a soggy but highly enjoyable ride :)
Worked on the order of work we did in our lesson on Thursday, as I seem to have got into a habit of doing the tempis at the end and need to have the mental flexibility to do them at any point! So canter, pirouettes, then tempis, then piaffe, then trot. All good fun, but the absolute highlight that has left me grinning like a loon is Kira knocked out 14 one tempis so confidently and in such good balance <3 We're supposed to be adding one a week so today should mark the start of "9 week" but we got to 9 and it felt like the perfect time to keep going. Ran out of space so had to stop. The 15th should be no bother though ;)

Got on board Salty just as it started to rain more heavily, she was getting into her warm up pattern which we're using to help her relax into her work when suddenly the power cable into the house next door started sending up big yellow sparks. So I graciously aborted the session, didn't fancy getting ejected from the saddle tonight, after all it's Christmas shopping day tomorrow! :D

a few pics from today's beach ride :D

Being naughty. I know I know I know it’s stupid but... he just makes my heart swell. Doing the most stuffy cautious trot because he could feel how useless I was with my aircast. A pony made of gold- I can’t believe 6 months ago I was scared every fine I put my foot in the stirrup.

Just waiting for the photos from the Boxing Day hunt now  Who needs a working leg anyway??!!

MP I can't imagine how awesome riding tempis must feel. Dancing with your pony. Lovely.

Wheels those pics are gorgeous especially that one of you silhouetted at the water's edge Where is that?

hehe, at the moment it mostly feels a bit like a disorganised blur and I'm not quite sure what is happening but today I managed to sit on my bum rather than climb up her neck and she just kept on going!
I'm finding the ones really fun but it all happens so fast! With all the other tempis you have a moment to either gather your thoughts or improve the canter, but really once you get started in 1s it's Sh*t or bust ;) I was concerned we might be making some mistakes until trainer pointed out that it's really hard for a horse to be late behind in one tempis and still make the next change. I can only occasionally watch them in the mirror at home but I had a good look in my last lesson and they were all correct. So exciting.

Haha, I’m half considering NYD as that will be merely 7 days before the surgeon said I could ride but... I think it’s highly unlikely as I would certainly need stirrups for that and would be surprised if ankle was anywhere near up to weight in them for very long.

Did go for a sneaky very quick hack around the fields though...

Lovely reading this week, glad everyone is having a successful end of year.

Chippers - your pony looked so rhythmic and balanced in that vid, he looks like he's really coming on in leaps and bounds now (literally 😜)

Very jealous of your beach ride wheels, those pictures are beautiful. What a lovely Christmas outing.

Thank you 😊 he's doing so well! He's not quite as balanced on his right rein but we're working on it and now we also need to work on straighteness on that rein too!

Oh and Michen, I would love to like your posts because you and your little horse are awesome, but I can't because you are a very bad broken person. Do not smash that ankle any more - a permanently fused ankle is not a useful asset for horse riding 😬

I knowwww you are completely right! :(

Aw thanks, it's one of my fave spots - I try to get up there at least 4 or 5 times a year. It was very foggy at home so couldn't have hacked out, trip to the beach was the perfect solution :)

I’m waiting for my mum to send some photos from today’s trec. Had a lovely time, BBP contained himself for the first round (some very tactful riding on my part!) and only came second to last instead of last in the open so all good! Second round was a little ..erm..interesting! Perfect immobility punctuated by vertical takeoff and landing! Nearly ditched me out of the plate, so I made the wussy decision to avoid the parcel wrapped jump and just went for survival over style. But managed to yet again come not quite last, so generally very happy with the daft pony.

I can’t help myself, I have to add a voice of reason too. As a slightly crusty creaky old thing I’d also really stress how important it is to take care of yourself and heal properly. These things have a tendency to creep up on as you get older and cause longer term issues.

I was planning on going on a nice long hack today but fell asleep instead😴
I did a bit of clicker training and grooming instead.
(Am planning on hacking tomorrow)
