Pretty or freaky? Debate on 'dishy' Arab foal...

Love it!! it's not freaky to me - but then i love the dished head, as long as it's not "kinked" in the middle if that makes sense?? I have welshies myself and my mare has produced a foal with an exquisite dished head!! take no notice of what other people say - that foal is just stunning!!

lol, my husband has a technical term for dished heads.

He calls them "Pan heads" because they look like their heads have been panned in pmsl.

BexandSpooky, I am so pleased that you found a picture of Namusca, I'd forgotten her name and trawling is useless without anything to go on. If any other type of horse had a head like that it would instantly be classified as a deformity.

On an arab a head that extreme would not appeal to me, I have usually had rather plain headed (by comparison) arabs but what the heck, they did the job I wanted them for and that's what mattered to me. My Al Hakim gelding had a very dainty head, as he should have, considering who bred him, he was a brilliant hunter and a dished or straight face wouldn't have made the slightest difference to the job I wanted him for. I like arabs for what they are, not their looks, but then I don't show or have the slightest interest in doing it myself, waaaaaaaaaaay too scary, even more so in North America than Europe.

My current old mare, at one time fashionably Bask bred, has a very plain head (imo) but her foals for me have all had lovely heads, if they were purebreds I'd be very happy with them.

Kate you will be interested to hear (I am not saying flattered) that several people have asked if the current colt is by Tobago! Presumably because of his colouring.

As per usual I think it is gorgeous. Even though I am definately not an arab fan, I just love your guy & all of his siblings. What I wouldnt give to look at a head like that over the door every morning. It would really kick start my day.
Glad to see you back & hope you are feeling well.

Is 'DISHY' not a term used by blokes who think a girl is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure the Arab horse is where this term came from!!

The foal is just gorgeous!!

No, because of the shape of... his HEAD.
