Thankyou Temsik for trying to 'stand up' for me .. of course I only have her best interests at heart . There is alot that happens that I don't post on the forum and unless you know me in RL or talk to me regularly you wouldn't know about it..

I may come across as some complete imbecile that doesn't know one end of a horse to the other but I can guarantee that I do and the welfare/well-being of my horse has never been compromised because I am incapable ..

ok my 2pennys worth for those of you having a go at ISHY i think you need to make sure you know all the facts before having a go at her, and don't insult her intelligences. from experiences bringing a horse back into work after injury isn't easy and you have to do what it best (and safest) for the horse and rider, so if lunging is what she needs thats what she will get. from every post i have read by ISHY she has never once come across as being cruel or even in a hurry and i am confident when i say she only wants whats best for sol.

so lay off until you know all the facts as you could seriously hurt peoples feelings ganging up on them without know what your talking about + you make yourself look like a right numpty ;-)

I wasn't having a go at ISHY, but she posted over the weekend about taking the mare for an hours hack and then schooling her in the afternoon, and now she is doing polework and lunging her. She's been riding her less than a week. This much work in a normal rehab program, this soon would be unheard off, and would be asking for the mare to go lame again.

I apologose for not realising that ISHY and been given an alternative rehab program by her vet. It is quite a radiclal program, fingers crossed you have many years of soundness ahead of you and it works

I can't believe you have felt the need to take your photo's down ISHY! I would have loved to see them as the majority of people on here seems to think they are fab, just the select few that spoil it for everyone.

I hope things continue to go well with Sol and please, please don't take any of the negative comments to heart, there is always someone who seems to see something completely different to everyone else and feel the need the comment, stick em' on UI and don't let them get to you!

I am ridiculously protective over things at the moment and now I realise it wasn't the most sensible thing to do considering recent events and the fact people don't know me in RL ...

I would just like to say I wasn't doing 'pole work' .. I walked over a pole twice as there was someone else using it in the school and it was in the way so to speak ..

Her case is slightly different to a horse 'just coming back into work after injury' because she is being worked to test the effect of the treatment not because its been fixed

Honestly deleting them was probably OTT but last time something happened I didn't sit on her again because I take things to heart .. not anyones fault on here just be being over emotional to the situation

ISH i felt it entirely neccessary to stand up for you, you need not thank me. I dont know you in RL but from following your posts closely (and my slight sol obsession!!) I think you are an extremely responsible horse owner and it is patently obvious you have sols best intrests in the forefront of your mind. The post did not make me think in the slightest that you had over worked her or were pushing it. I'm pretty confident I KNOW that you are taking it easy and following what the vet has told you. Please don't let the fews comments get to you, I had feared they would which is why I jumped in quick with the replies.

ISHY, if people give you grief tell 'em to get stuffed. That mare is so lucky to have you, a lot of people would have got rid one way or another by now. You listen to your horse and to your vet, take what we come out with with a pinch of salt, and carry on enjoying her while you can.

I missed the pics, but the one you added later was lovely as usual.

Anyone who knew sarah would know that she is the most over protective owner ever!! she considered putting a MW rug on last night!!!

She has been scared to even ride her horse, anyone who has properly followed it knows she even found a temporary rider in her sister as she didn't feel ready to rider her again yet!

She has been uber careful in everything she has done, followed the vets advise to a tee. Sol has got ten times more turnout than she has ever had and is thriving. Give the girl a break, she is having fun with a horse who at one point was possibly being PTS.

It can be so soul destroying having to follow what vets want you to do. You know it's in their best interest, but it is so damn hard

. I know that when I had to ride Dizzy even on the days when to me she looked lame, but to the professionals she wasn't lame enough - I was in tears. Friend had to make me get on a couple of times.

Part of me wishes I could have left Dizzy at the vets until it was all sorted out, however long that took, but the rest of me wanted her home as soon as possible.

I'm still a bit confused sorry- i appreciate that this is the program that the vet has prescribed and that you are following this. I still however fail to see why starting things off quickly can see if a treatment works or not and I would be interested in the veterinary thoughts behind this because I have never seen this before. I'm interested as an educational point for me not beacause you are doing anything wrong by following the professionals advice, i would too. I think we all have experience of injury and that few if any will have been told to work them to this extent but instead focuses on weeks of gradual build up starting with weeks of straight lines and walking- I can't see why this wouldn't also have told your vet whether the treatment has worked in fact it seems more useful to be able to gain a threshold of work at which lameness occurs with a particular treatment and by following the same program you would be able to compare treatments.

Temsik- I'm pretty confident she lunged for more than 5 minutes, I don't know about you but i usually do a warm up before tying its head down and cantering!

GwenLP- I don't see why anyone should feel like a numpty on commenting about the program of work because for most it seems quite an alien concept especially considering the specific diagnosis in sol's case, i have never met an advocate for lunging horses with navicular disease.
 
I know , no matter what I say I will never ever justify my actions to you(or others on this forum). Again for reasons I can't really be bothered to bring up right now because it feels like I am running round in circles there is a very good reason she has a bungee on and why she is cantering ! But don't worry if you want to believe she slogged it out for an hour - you think it

The fact that what was meant to be a happy post has now turned into this is saddening , I'll be sure to refrain from posting about how well she is going and stick to posting when everything falls apart because that never seems to kick off!

If I was that desperate to prove I am doing the right thing I'd actually tell you to ring my vet .. but I am over trying to prove what I am doing is right anymore

Ishy I'm so pleased that Sol looks so well and you are riding her again. I know nothing about bringing a horse back from injury but I also am sure you wouldn't do anything that wasn't for Sol's benefit.

She looks so beautiful and I hope you get real enjoyment from being back on board xxxx

Ofcourse if any one else wants to take her off my hands and try it their way they are more than welcome ... a forum member will vouch that its not a wise idea as I am the only one that she trusts and the last time they sat on her they had a quick dismount
