Has anybody else got the same problem as me? Now that the temp has reached quite high my foal is just sweating, he's totally soaked tonight but he's got such a wolly coat. Don't know what to do with him really as I don't want him to get chilled

Does he come in at night? Are you planning on showing him?

If he is stabled at night and you are not going to show him this year, I would clip out a tiny bib clip. Just the front of his chest and up his gullet. There will be plenty of 'fluff' left to keep him warm, without rugging, if it gets cold again. I do it with my babies.

Thank you, yes he is in at night and no he won't go to any shows this year. Yes that's a idea I did wonder about clipping but don't know anybody who clips a foal. Thanks :D

My foal resembles a wolly bear! Hes grown a huge thick coat like I've never seen before! but hes ok at the minute, even though its been 10 degrees for the last few days, thank god! I spend enough time worrying when its cold, without worrying when its warm :D

Hi there. I've had the same problem with my youngster. He's just turned 2yrs 6 months and is stabled at night also. I gave him a bib clip last year as a yearling as same happened and he was fine. Clipped him this winter in November just to keep him used to it and hoping to give him another clip tomorrow as he has been soaked the last 2 mornings. I do show mine but sure he will be looking fine by begining of his season. I would do a bib clip as like you say it's better than them getting a chill.
