Hey,
I have been trying to sell my 12.2hh exmoor pont for a while which has proven extremely difficult! A stud which breeds part bred connemaras have said they would swap one of their 3 year olds for Lola.
Would it make a good project? I was selling Lola for around £1300 which probably would have meant I would of broken even if I sold her for that price. I would be looking to back the horse lightly between now and october and then turn away until may (after my last uni exams!) and then crack on with training and taking out to some competitions etc.
It is a dun mare and it is a connemara (arrow javelin) cross with a coloured cob/ welsh mix. But she doesn't have a huge amount of bone. To make 14.1- 14.2hh.
Realistically, is this a good idea? Is there a market for these kind of ponies? and how much would a 14.2hh dun conny x 4 year old allrounder tend to go for?
I obviously know how bad the market is right now but I am thinking would it be easier to sell a 14.2hh than a 12.2hh 4 year old exmoor.!
Edited to say, I keep them at home so would only be costs of feed etc, no livery bills!
Thanks in advance
