Pronounciation of horsey things

It was a few years before my non horsey mum finally caved and let me have riding lessons, and in the meantime I read everything horsey I could get my hands on, and so my pronunciation is often a bit bizarre because I read it, and still don't have any reason to hear things said out loud (horseless).

One that could have been embarrassing had a friend not said it correctly is pedal bone, pronounced in my head as pedal to rhyme with medal :o

Loving the Latin, my teacher in university used to bellow ''conjugate xx NOW'' or ''recite the plu perfect form of xx'' for the first 20mins of every lesson to shame us into learning our vocabulary!

I'll admit I say jompurs and Glums/Glubs for jod's and gloves but in my defense......

when my eldest was little, he couldn't manage the words properly so these were what he called them. If i'm out in company it's Jods and Gloves but at home it will always be Jompers and Glums/glubs
