Prospective buyers riding another horse

This wouldn't bother me at all... Infact I had to do just that before trying out a horse. I had to do basic walk, trot, canter large and canter a 20mtr circle on both reins. It was for my own safety as they did not want me overestimating my ability and ended up injured as I couldn't handle the horse I was going to try! Think it is quite sensible and any rider who is being honest about their riding ability shouldn't mind IMO

It wouldn't bother me :) In fact I would rather have them decide on my riding without risk of injury, instead of getting on something too sharp and it all going a bit wrong!

Also I know people who've sold competition types and had complete beginners turn up to try them! People do sometimes over-estimate their skills, and with a truly difficult horse the results could be very bad.
