Right just a gushy, long post about my girlies. Have been on here a while but not really introduced myself.

I have 2 horses 2 year old Breeze (was 2 this may ) a strawberry roan and white coloured mare who is an appolosa x and looks to be going towards the lw cob end of the scale. I got her in August last year and a basically handled filly

Taken in october last year :

And i have Ruby who is rising 3, she is of unknown breeding on sires side, Dam was supposedly an ID x A friend ofa friend gave gifted Ruby after having a baby and no time to dedicate to her. Ruby is 14hh now and ive had her since november, just thinking about backing her, pictures taken in december

Now my other reason for posting is Breeze hadnt had her tet injections so i booked them in this week and ruby is prone to lice and a few had hatched on her so got her injected for them. Now Breeze is normally a cow to men !!! But vet went into barn with them, tet was in and out no movement from Breeze and she then had Vetromax?? for the lice too and she took one step back and one forward then stood like a rock and it must of stung cos she bled a but from it. I said to the vet wow she doesn't like men, he replied that she was the most polite, brave 2 year old he had ever seen ( he had seen me lead both the girls up the lane together and past a feed lorry and tractor without so much as evenlooking ) Ruby was a star i didnt even clip her on to the rope and she stood well for vet.

Next proud moment ..... the farm i keep them on is a dairy farm and some general busy bodies live there next too the girls field. The woman said that the horses looked poor and wanted to report them :mad: so i asked the vet, he laughed and said "ive been and put down a few ponies so riddled ith laminitus already this year, seeing 2 fit, healthy and slim youngsters is a welcome break" he said you can see my mare is a 2 year old and laughed when i said i got her as she was to make 14.2/15 hh max (shes standing at 15.2 and half :eek::eek::eek: and has grown 2 hands since i got her in september) he told me to keep doing whatever im doing as it works and i have 2 shiny happy horses who behave themselves (most of teh time)

Took these pictures on weds

The neglected 2 year old

OMG look how skinny they are! clearly an RSPCA case ;)

They are both lovely, I especially like Ruby, she has such a kind face and also shares the name with my Horse.

Ruby's favourite things is this order are
Food, chasing me around the field, beating breeze up, kicking me, knocking people over and bronking :)

Oh you wicked wicked lady not only do you not feed those poor starving mites but you blindfolded one as well, so cruel :-DDDDD

as the vet says, keep doing as you are!!

they look great, you see too many fat ponies and horses these days, they look happy and healthy.. silly busy bodies eh?!! .. and full credit to the rock steady neddy that stood perfectly for the vet, not many do!

ps. ruby is adorable and breeze's colour = yummy! :)

They look lovely, healthy horsies to me but I am no expert perhaps your neighbour is, as she seems to know better than the vet! Good luck with them they really are lovely.

Well I would have to agree with your vet. It is so refreshing to see two youngsters of a healthy weight. It is the worst thing you can do to try and force weight on them while they are still growing IMO and I HATE to see overweight horses. They will go through ribby stages and you'll probably find they have shot up an inch overnight but it will all settle down when they hit about 4... Ignore the busybodies and just keep on wuith what they are doing. I kept my boy's feed pretty much the same from the age of 16 months to 3.5 years apart from just increasing the amount of hay and he grew steadily and a consitently good weight :)

Thanks Guys. Ruby is going to be cracking pony when she is broken in and ridden on, i am dreading backing her though as she is a madam until she comes round to your way of hinking, breeze will be exactly that - a breeze to back and break but a heller in a few years she has appytude !!!

Gorgeous girls!! And a lovely weight - it's the same with dogs, the general public are so used to seeing overweight, panting waddlers that they take that to be the norm, and anything remotely near the correct body condition looks skeletal to them!!

Tbh deep down I knew they looked ok, but never nice to have people say it!! The 2 year old is changing colour all the time, she is darker this summer, so glad her roan hasn't faded tho, I love coloureds and strawberry roans but didn't think I'd ever get a roan and white :) all I ever wanted as a girl though was a bay pony and now I have one and she is soooooo cute. Breeze has started to spot out across her flanks too, and has white 'icing sugar' patches in her roan. :) she has turned from an ugly duckling to a half decent looking mare, and follows me around like a puppy

yep< i asked you in your photos thread the other day but havent seen your replies. Jayson seems to throw some lovely stock all very trainable too> Tinner is gorge

Thanks Vanner- I had a gypsy vanner for 6 years and i wanted another coloured but knew I would only compare them so opted for something that my dreams were made of for less than 500 quid :) she has a chestnut head and red/white/roan/ginger stripes in her mane. I think she willo be my horse of a life time, first time i have got a real youngster (fed up of buying crap that others have ruined to reschool and sell on)

The day after i put a deposit down on her see her stripes ?

You can see how short her feet had been cut back, she used to get foot sore walking up and down the 300 meters to the yard, so i have let them grow and go my farrier to round them down and trim up better and shes been fine since winter

Hmmmmm....clearly neglected - you need to send them to me!!!! Seriously, the coloured looks like a typical gangly 2 year old and ruby is lovely - I wouldn't let her put any more on though!!

Having a field with no grass has got the weight off of ruby so nicely lol, i can fell all of her ribs when i stroke her and dont want more weight on her. Shes going to be a hunting pony eventually, the vet asked if i wanted flu jabs atm and laughed and agreed when i said shes not fat enough to show lol !

Well not so proud right now, they trashed electric fencing anf got out into a garden, the now nosey neighbour who owns field that I sub let from farmer wants them gone in a week :( rubbish, but moving them onto m$y friends croft land for time being ..... Just have to walk them along a quiet road for twenty minutes to get them their, Breeze has walked it a few times and Ruby walked from the croftland to our yard whn I got her so fingers crossed!!

yeah I think you need reporting to the RSPCA especially for putting in a cool dark stable and tethering with those ropes plus the hoodie!

Very distressing pictures!

this is my boy- he is a saluki saturated lurcher, touch of greyhound and collie in there, i wont show him at fmily dog shows anymore for peoplke call him under weight greyhound..... even a judge has said this before. It pisses me off, he works 4 nights a week in winter and has a bowl of food down all day and eats twice the weight of food he is supposed to. He was 13kg when we rehomed him adn is now 22 - 25 kg depending on what hes been running.
