Fizz was going to flyball training last year but thanks to a massive workload and OH living 100 miles away we just couldn't make training some weeksn and she didn't seem to be improving so I decided to give it up as a bad job. Fast forward to a month or so ago and now OH is down here and I'm in a new job, OH talked me into trying it again with a different club.

She's a different dog! She is more sensitive than I give her credit for and I think being outdoors so it's less noisy has made all the difference. No hooning round as soon as she gets the ball, no refusing to go near the box (she's still a little wary but 100x more confident and even starting to think about turning). In her first training session she was running as part of a team and last week she was starting to get quicker and even thought about crossing over (she's much too polite and wants to wait until the other dog is out of the way at the moment lol). She's doing her first starter competition next weekend which I'm super excited about. She just seems so much more enthusiastic and like it's all clicked.....she even trained in the rain without a tantrum.....with no coat on!!! (granted the coat had to go on when she was resting or she dithered like an old lady)

A video from her first session

She looks fab! How's the old boy doing? There seems to be a daily corgi picture on FB, someone is trying very hard to make them more popular! Hope it works!

He's ok, he's got a couple of fatty lumps, gets stiff and sore if he walks more than a mile or so but he's happy. They're really popular in the states but not so much over here still which is a shame :(

Great pictures, glad she is getting the hang of it now. Did you see those two amazing whippets in the flyball at Crufts ?
Good to see Jack looking well .I noticed how many corgis there were when I was in Kentucky a couple of years ago strange they are more popular there than here.

That's Awesome!
It took my spaniel about 6 months to really settle for competitions but even now a year down the line, she's still prone to an odd panic if things are not just perfect!

We're out and about next weekend too. Where are you competing?

I was line judging when the two whippets were competing a couple of weekends back. Terrifyingly fast but not great with the ball at all! (much to the relief of the teams in their division)
They would have gone up and down twice in the time it takes poor Mrs Spaniel to do one run!

I did, think it's what got OH to bug me into going back!

It really is, I always wondered if it's linked to their obsession with all things royal? Either way it's no harm to the breed. There's only him and 2 of his brothers left now :(

My old boy, nearly 14, has loads :( Luckily, none affect him and he still gallops round like a young thing. I've got him on green lipped mussel and salmon oil, I swear it works to keep him mobile.

It is great when training starts to make sense to a dog and they begin to really enjoy it. I was amazed at the speed of the whippets at Crufts - they left everything else for dead.

Oooo I'll have to give it a look. He's on glucosamine sulfate at the moment which keeps him moving it's just if he over does it. I do sometimes wonder if it's a get out though as he will come running through the house for a crisp packet rustle but he's too stiff for his second walk ;)
