Puppy versus adult dog comparison: show me yours!

I love my boys, I think that’s pretty obvious! However, I notice recently that the youngsters are pretty much grown up. There’s less playfighting, more calm behaviour in the evening, they just want cuddles in the morning (to be fair, I’m up at 6/6.30 Mon-Fri now I’m back at work, it’s clearly too early for them) I love the puppy stage, it’s the height of cuteness, but omg, I love the calm of grown up dogs! We have our moments, but the routines are established and all the training has paid off.

The poodle fading gene took no prisoners with our Mabel

Day after she came home, then a few weeks later, to now at 3 years old. She’s been the easiest dog in the world and such a lovely character to have around. Her only downfall is a love for jumping up at people. That is still a work in progress made harder by people seeing a cute teddy bear and encouraging it. All well and good until she clocks a dog hater in white jeans and jumps up at them!

Ironic really that I picked her over her litter mates for her colour then everyone always comments that her ears are wet when they’re not, they’re just a different colour

Strike as a puppy.



Tay as a puppy.



Both now (Strike (right of photo) will be 5 years and Tay 4 years this year).

They are related through their maternal line but despite having similarities in traits and personality they are also very different. Strike was a fairly laidback puppy whereas Tay was a wild-child. Not much has changed . Strike wants to please me and Tay wants to please herself

The Doberman is on the left in the first photo! He weighed one Dachshund when he came home and 8 Dachshunds fully grown.

Bunny at a couple of months old vs recently. She had a slight break in her coat as a puppy but I wasn't expecting her to be as wiry as she is - but I am pleased that she has turned out how she has! She is now 18 months old and has settled a lot but still has her moments - but I wouldn't be without her.

I didn’t have Cookie as a puppy (she came to me at 12 months), but as I’m friends with her previous owner I do have puppy pics

No she is my first, although after Siberians I boldly claimed that anything would be easy by comparison Still early days yet but she is a good girl, full on but only in the ways I’d expected and prepared for really. The only thing that’s surprised me is Shepherd Noises - I mean, I knew they were a thing but I didn’t know how much of a thing. She makes noises we refer to as the blart, the honk, the moose bellow and the rusty barn door whinge.

I did a 10wk vs 16wk sock comparison, it’s hanging on in there:

Some are definitely “more talkative” than others . My Tay is a noisy blighter, Strike very quiet. Those little freckles are just fab, so unusual. Are you still getting asked what breed she is?

I've always found males to be far more laid back than females, though haven't had a male for many years.

If you pay shipping costs I can get a nearing 4 year old tri bitch to you. She barks constantly, does what she’s asked about three times a week, makes some border collies seem mellow and will probably have gnawed her way through the packaging en route and gone on a killing spree before getting to you - what’s not to want?!
