I think I know what they are on about. It was an odd thing, a horsey friend now in their 70's told me about it. You took some of the horse's hair and put it in a special box and it would then help you diagnose the horse's issues. Don't ask me how it worked - magic maybe? - from what I was told it was essentially a con.
black box? search for Radionics. I have a friend who did as a last resort for one of her horses. it was weird talking to her about it as she's normally a total skeptic. As am I
Thanks for your response. Yes that was what I was looking for. I know a few people that have used this successfully for their horses but unfortunately the people they used have passed on. Thank you
I've used it as a last resort. It was for a horse that the vets were stumped by.
I sent her an amount of mane hair, and told her he was a 16.2hh 7 year old chestnut gelding. Nothing else.
She sent me a report back saying he had inflammation in his kidneys. (He was extraordinarily wet in the stable but I hadn't told her that) and described various other issues that were subsequently confirmed by the vets.
I am a complete sceptic but it was a very interesting exercise.
I have experience of it. I was caring for a mare with grass sickness and they put her 'on the box'. They claimed it cured her. No one ever saw her, we sent a picture of her droppings and a bit of hair at their request. Personally I think it was more my colleague and I hand feeding the mare on the hour every hour for 3 weeks with whatever she would eat and our care of her, hot towelling and plaiting her mane when she was sweating uncontrollably so she was comfortable that kept her alive. I was actually insulted when they finally came to see her and raved about how the box had saved her.
I can't support that it 'cured' her grass sickness.
