If you are a business it is illegal to burn your muck heap. If it is your private yard you may burn so long as you do not cause a stautory nuisance to your neighbours. Muck heaps do not burn well due to lack of oxygen, they tend to smoulder and smell terrible for days, even weeks, so unless you live in the middle of no where I would not recomend it.

They tried burning ours, which is mainly shavings, and this happened.
Not really worth the bother!

I have my own place with 3 neds and burn mine all winter, we are out in the sticks so it doesn't bother anyone! Think i must be strange as i love the smell...
