QUICKLY. Give me good reasons why I shouldn't....

14! Yoiks, how big are yours? Thankfully mine are all 13h or less.

I follow the same sort of reasoning! "....but Darling, they don't eat much - really"

Hmm...the weanlings are about 11-12hhish at the minute....our two yearling's are probably about 13.2hh atm :)

We just rent an extra barn and a field for them....dthey on't make much of a mess nor are that much bother tbf bless them :) Then have our 7 horses at home.

Out of sight out of mind...

Hmmm, when I had my field on the mountain I only ever bought white ponies so that they all looked the same through binoculars! Now, I can't get away with that, every window overlooks a paddock and OH might not know their names but he notices if there is an extra head.

Aaaah unlucky lol!!! But clever original plan!!

If it makes it any better, they are ones to sell on....well...apart from 3....and only ickle cobbies!!!

As Mrs Doyle would say: Aaarrrr go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on...... :D:D

May as well get hung for a sheep as a lamb!

If you can manage and are happy and your horses are happy then why not. You seem to have your bases covered with space, feed and unwelcomed events so if you can afford to do it, both financially and timewise then go for it.

Please let me know your secret how you manage your time ... I have just the one and what with field maintenance, quality time spent with him, I just don't think I could manage another.

Good luck x

:) Easy, basically whichever parts of my house are not wiped, tidied or swept in half an hour don't get done until the next day when I start downstairs instead of upstairs.

I don't iron, I don't even know where the iron is!

If clothes aren't by, or in, the washing machine they don't get washed. If they aren't taken upstairs when they are dry, then tough, root around downstairs for clean stuff, probably under a cat that has snuck in. I don't do putting clothes away for people who are quite capable of doing it themselves.

I don't work (often anyway, just do holiday cover sometimes) so I have all day.

I have a quad, a tractor (plus various devices), a chainsaw, a log splitter, a husband and a daughter, all of which are labour saving devices.

Yard is on my back doorstep.

None of my horses live in, and only two of the Boarders do, so not much faffing about with stables and the bring in/turn out twaddle.

Mainly Feed big bale hay.

I harrow rather than poo pick.

Water troughs are automatic and heated.

With the exception of two, my horses are either broodmares, or youngsters, none of which need exercising.

I walk the fields at least twice a day and chat with all the horses, the youngstock either get worked in the fields wherever I find them, or I take them into the round pen.

as I said, easy. I am a lazy mare basically, just swan around doing not a lot.:)

Stinkbomb, Oh I am working on the minis believe me, and a donkey or two! Only 4 though? There is at least 8 acres there, 14 would be better. ;)
I'd be looking at $2000+ for a decent show quality mini which is what I want, I'd love to have a go at showing them.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have a big mixed herd? The problem is that the grass is too good for minis so they can never be allowed on the track there, also, my miserable mares HATE small horses with a vengeance. I would be too scared that a stray kick might just kill or maim a mini:(

ps. Pick up ponies on Friday all being well. :) If the seller doesn't change her mind again She's already called the sale off, and then back on again once.

ummmm you are asking us for what reason lol BUY THEM!!!!!!!!!!

I have:D

OH doesn't know yet, and one of my Boarders is already making "Oooooooh I've always wanted a black Morgan, and Dukey reallllllllly would like a friend in his paddock" noises.

We'll see;)

Whistler is going in with Duke anyway, white Arab, black Morgan, nice pair.

Just outta curiosity - what's his breeding?

Sire is Beams Dream Maker, makes no difference, he'll be cut anyway, I am not interested in keeping him entire. I am only set up for the one stallion here.

Stinkbomb......noooooooooooooooo.

Somethingorother, Thankyou. Apart from the ones I breed, I only buy in pretty babies, reckon if I have to look at them everyday I may as well enjoy it, a field full of bays wouldn't do it for me :(

Got to pick an argument with you there Enfys - there is no way on this planet that a husband is a labour saving device. In reality it's quite the opposite! Believe me, I know from long experience!

Awww Faro you got a duff un?
Mines fab. I moan, he moves!
You have to play them at thier own game though.
You need a new gate, go buy some rubbishy wood and do a bad job. Your OH will then feel the need to show you just how well HE can make a gate from lovely looking wood.
Then you get the gate you wanted, and he built it.....he just doesn't realise he has been "played" LOL
It works for most things too....new stables.....fencing......even down to choosing horses!

Faro and Joeanne :D

My usual ploy is to grab a hammer too, plus a can of 6" nails and approach the fence/gate/wall with purpose. Himself heaves a huge sigh, grabs everything and goes to fetch the right stuff then does it himself! Never fails;) He is very obliging though, 20 minutes doing a job properly is preferable to $'s and hours fixing what I've cocked up;)

Not sure who is conning who, I know he'll do it, he knows that I know he'll do it, but it happens everytime;)

As for choosing horses, hmmmm, he says "Whatever, when am I picking it up?"
The only thing that interests him about the horses is how much Board they bring in and if it covers the expenses for my lot.

Off in a minute to pick up those two, that woman better not change her mind again after we've driven 70kms to get to her.
