Racing today

Replay from the Nakayama Grand Jump from early this morning (our time). The horse who pulled up quickly at the end is okay as well.

Anyone who has played G1 Champion Jockey will be familiar with course 🤣

Unfortunately I haven’t found an English version yet but the CC worked on mine!

And the jockey cam;

The Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) is on tomorrow morning (our time). Looking forward to seeing the exceptionally talented Croix du Nord (Kitasan Black) who is unbeaten in three starts as well as Pika Chan Black (Kitasan Black) who is a truly stunning individual 😍

Everyone raise a glass tonight to Any Second Now. He finished 2nd in the Irish National today, for the second year running, at the age of 13. He also has a Grand National 2nd and 3rd to his name, and arguably should have won one of those years if he hadn't been very badly hampered by a faller. Ted Walsh said after the race today that he'd be retired, which I think he has definitely earned! A very very good horse who really deserved a national win but never quite got it.

Grand old fella. A long and happy retirement to him.

Great race today, won by a brilliant ride and yes, well done to the second. Notable that the Irish don’t seem to have armies of people with water buckets either ?

Irish National was a much 'better' watch than the Scottish one was. Perhaps it was down to the ground for the Irish race being soft/heavy slowing down the pace of the race, whilst Ayr was good ground. (I know that the Irish race is shorter as well)

I was cheering on Any Second Now as well. Nice to see him retired now.

One of my favourite racehorses, Liberty Island (JPN) broke down fatally in Hong Kong today. I’m gutted, she won the 2023 Triple Tiara (Oka Sho, Japan Oaks and Shuka Sho) and was racing internationally in Dubai and Hong Kong as well as Japan.

Isn’t Field of Gold beautiful.
I don’t really follow the flat, where is The Lion in Winter? Is he ok?

Lovely winner of the 1,000 guineas and well done to Ollie Sangster with 2nd and 3rd. Did rather like Simmering and cool name. William Buick taking the winner down in front of the stands again. Lovely bit of reassuring the horse.
