Racing Post making me a bit cross that all seems to be about jockeys not about staff. Not seen the Richie Persad bit. It appeared on Facebook then I lost it then couldn’t find it again.
 
Fingers crossed for horses stuck on the ferry that can’t dock in Holyhead, Bramhams are furious, saying authorities are
quoting 24/36 hours to fix….One ferry diverting to Birkenhead….
ETA the ferry with horses aboard that should have docked at 10.45am finally managed to dock and unload at 6pm…horses are said to be fine….

Yes and hopefully a good telling off by owner and trainer. Trainer is point to point or permit not licensed. As an amateur think that’s twelve days when there are amateur races. Not sure of exact way it works. I’m sure would’ve been a much longer ban for a professional jockey and hopefully a professional would’ve pulled up. Edited to add, have just watched it, hadn't realise horse was quite so tired.

Harry Skelton was interviewed by the stewards today about a pulling up and not dismounting straight away but he explained was waiting until he felt he could dismount safely.

In the Daily Mail about a racehorse in Turkey, who was a Turkish registered race horse whose microchip was found in food. Says that the owner had given her to somebody for a riding horse. Quite rightly, the racing owner has been fined for not informing the Racing authorities as to the donation of the horse out of Racing.

Difficulty is it requires people to actually be honest which seems to be increasing more difficult and for owners and trainers to really check out where a horse is going and for the update of the horse’s status not just to be that it has left Racing, but as to where the horse has gone. I think that is work which is trying to be done but as above just need everybody to be honest.

I looked at the horse for a friend of mine and I rang the trainer as I know them to ask if the horse was suitable as my friend was just after a nice friend to hack. And yes, you’ve guessed it the trainer had given it to somebody who told him they were going to keep the horse themselves for hacking. I know it wasn’t a case of somebody being gifted an unsuitable horse they were dealing a few on the quiet. Horse was actually lovely and my friend had him.
