Rain Sheets

Because we have all had enough of the wet stuff over the winter to last a lifetime. We now have sun which you are allowed to mention as long as it's not to moan about how hot it is :D

Seriously though, I have Rhinos which have stood up to everything the winter has thrown at them without a single leak. They use the liner system so can be used either as no fill sheets or made warmer when required.

I found my Horsewear 'Mia' was great. Don't now if they still make them but it was a true no fill sheet (I find some really thick still) that fitted nicely and was really reliable. Or Premier Equine do one that is just waterproof over the horses back so they don't over heat but keeps the back and loins warm. Fingers crossed they wont be needed!

I rate the Premier Equine but I know others aren't. They seem to suit big wide horses with big shoulders and deep girths as they're very long. Anything else looks like a mini-skirt on my boy.

I have one that's about 10 years old and still going strong whereas I've just had to replace the Mark Todd I bought about 5 years ago because it's no longer waterproof. If you do get a PE, sign up for their e-mails. They'll send you a daily 20% off deal. It won't be long before the rug you want is on offer there, they rotate them a lot.

Sorry all for mentioning the dreaded 'R' word!
Thank you for all the suggestions; I shall look into them :)

Some no fills are still thick, I can't use PE ones or the 1200 denier weatherbeeta on my boy as if it's rainsheet temperatures (i.e rainy and windy but still 10-15 degrees) then he gets too hot, but is still cool/slightly warm to touch in the 600 denier. So that's something to consider!

Only the weatherbeeta ones fit my large shouldered Friesian. I’ve had one 3 years now, washed and proofed every year and still perfect!

In saying that I only use them autum / spring, when he’s clipped and it’s chucking it down, summer he can get wet.

My Rambo supreme 0g fill is amazing. Wasn’t cheap but I use it with liner system so can make various rugging combinations.

It’s he only rainsheet on the yard that will stand up to a whole day of rain without leaking.

Amigo Mio, lovely and lightweight. Third season not leaking although I did wash and reproof it myself last year. I’ve got another light-weight Amigo with a detachable neck but I can’t recall which type it is. On fourth season, washed and reproofed by me end of last summer.

I bought a £35 Gallop rainsheet last November (?). My unclipped, very hot, cob has worn it on most of the wet days this winter and it hasn't let a drop of rain through.
