Why do people expect perfection from their horses and at the first sign of a problem want to get a new horse rather than making the effort to work through the problem?
My friends daughters horse has become nappy when show jumping probably as it is always hacked and mostly schooled with other horses whilst at home.
The daughter who is 13 is refusing to take the horse to shows as she does not want to be humilated and my friend feels at 13 her daughter shouldn't be expected to put in the work (hacking alone, regular gridwork lessons etc) needed to correct the bad habit her daughter has allowed the horse to get into. Neither of them are willing to accept any responsibility for the horses current behaviour or take any critcism from their instructor about the daughters riding and it's really getting on my nerves
especially as I helped them find this horse and it's not the first time they have behaved in this way, certainly wont be helping them look for a new horse which they want to rush into immediately.
