RAO and medication/supplements

My pony has RAO, he was scoped a couple of yes ago. He has been living out as much as possible (weather dependant). He is very fat so is on restricted feed as the weight will not help his breathing. We are in a catch 22 situation though as we can't exercise him as he struggles even in walk and no exercise means weight gain.
He is on inhalers and global herbs airways. I feel his breathing is getting progressively​ worse and have decided if no improvement by July then i will PTS as it is kinder for him but would like to give him a chance to prove me wrong.
Is there anything else a horse with RAO can have? He is also extremely gassy (rear end!!) And has soaked hay.

Probably too late for this winter but I have found mine are so much better on haylage, even the fatties, soaking hay is just not enough for the worst ones, I currently have 2 here that have no medication or supplements on haylage, my old boy was extremely bad on soaked hay but is totally different since having haylage, the wheezing stops completely, early this winter he was getting soaked hay for a couple of weeks while I waited for a delivery and he started to wheeze, he looked uncomfortable and I was expecting to need the vet, luckily haylage arrived and a few days later he was back to normal.
Being fat doesn't help but it is a vicious circle if you cannot exercise, could you try a track system to get him moving about more on his own?

You could try a nebuliser to get the steroids right into the lungs. It worked sooo much better than inhalers for my horse. Apparently, with inhalers, there’s lots of lost medication, whereas by nebulising the steroid, it proves much more effective.

I have a Flexineb nebuliser- not cheap to buy initially but the liquid steroid works out cheaper than inhalers in the long run. I can’t emphasise enough the difference it made to my horse!

Equine Science Pulmon Plus saved our hunter. It is expensive but honestly please try it, I cannot rate it enough. We did every medication and supplement under the sun and whilst they helped, pulmon plus was incredible. Hopefully it does the trick for you!
Plus the customer service is second to none. We had a text message a few days after starting it to see how he was doing and a voicemail a couple of weeks later to check up. Just incredible support from the team there. I cant sing their praises enough and no, I dont work there or sell their products by the way!
