Hello to all you RAW feeders!

Just a post to say what dogs you have, what they do (if anything), what RAW you feed, suppliers etc. - Always good to get more info!

I'm relatively new to RAW, been feeding for about 3 weeks now, but in that 3 weeks, his itchy skin has reduced incredibly and I swear his temperament has improved! (Still a little nutter and full of energy, but there's just something different!) I've got a Jack Russell x Fox Terrier - Wibble. He's a flyball doggy (and doing very well too - proud mummy moment!:D)

I started off getting trimmings and bones from a local butcher, to see if Wibble liked it. Of course - he did, so then spoke to other RAW feeders, and ordered a months worth of food from MVM. Got a selection of their minced "tubes" - beef and tripe, chicken carcass, lamb and beef and something else, along with some pigs trotters, pig heart and liver chunks. As treats, I also have 1kg of chicken feet sitting in my freezer (triple bagged!) which he absolutely LOVES. Can't say I overly enjoy the crunching, but it doesn't take him long!

I know people are split 2 ways when it comes to feeding chicken bones etc, and I've been told by quite a few RAW, that as long as they're NOT cooked - it's fine. I don't give him anything chicken bone style, apart from the feet. The carcass is minced already. I'm plucking up the courage to order him a pigs head next time I order!

So, what do you feed etc!

have a Staff X pet. up to 1.5 hours exercise a day- average stuff......

Seriously strong jaw- he can pretty much get through anything

He eats minced tripe/chicken/beef/lamb/venison

Pork/lamb/beef ribs

Chicken wings/necks/carcass

raw meaty lamb bones

Raw fish

Tinned sardines

Offal (if i can get it down him- hates liver)- happy to eat heart, kidney, lung- smushed up in "economy mince"

anything in the reduced section in the supermarket

I use the dog food company http://www.thedogfoodcompany.co.uk/

A whippet and a whippet cross, pets mainly but my younger dog races and they are kept racing fit.

Mine get MVM and DAF and a lot of freebies and supermarket reductions, as well as ox heart and trotters bought from the butcher.

They eat literally anything, but neither will eat a kidney and one wont eat liver no matter how sneaky I am!

I've got two lurchers. I use Albion Meat Products and get a delivery approx every 3 months. Most days they get various minces, either just meat or the complete ones with veg and offal; then they also get frozen chicken wings. Sometimes they have necks or carcasses or sometimes beef or fish chunks. A couple of times a week they have tinned veg in tomato sauce or oil. Plus any suitable leftovers and the odd egg.

This is in the stickies but unlabelled and damn hard to find!! If Lexie hasn't already pm'd the supplier's list and other raw sticky, let me know and I'll do it. I also use the Dog Food Company. Hey Lexie, does he deliver on Wednesdays to you?

I have three springers, 2 of which are semi gundog trained but mostly they like to fly off river banks, do massive belly flops and swim like otters :)

I go to a guy who supplies the greyhound tracks. He sells dry food as well and horse feed.

I get beef chunks, minched green tripe, whole minced chicken, chicken carcasses, hearts, kidneys, liver, oxtails, once got cow tongue! He's very cheap, all the stuff is prepared in his unit and I am not paying for packaging or advertising, just meat!
It comes chilled in plastic bags which I decant into old ice cream or biscuit tubs and then put it in the freezer.

As above I also trawl the bargain bins in supermarket, get freebies from the butcher etc etc and will throw in an egg every so often.

Mine eat chicken carcasses I get for free from the Halal butcher and at the minute they are eating tons of still frozen drumsticks/legs etc, so I wouldn't worry about feeding chicken :)

Mine are all fed raw, a mixture of DAF and MVM (they love the tubes of minces and tripes and the big beef chunks) supplied and delivered by Daves Doggie Dinners. They also get whatever is in the reduced section at the supermarket, usually hearts, trotters, kidneys and there is usually a bag of cheap frozen chicken portions in the freezer that I feed frozen usually! And just to keep them occupied I occasionally throw them a carrot, apple or banana.

One of mine eats anything. The other two turn their noses up at chicken especially carcasses, kidneys and cheap minces. Oh and they hate natural instinct

Moppet- I use Daves Doggie Dinners too, they are a lovely company to deal with aren't they? I get a delivery once a month from them. They are based in Kent but deliver all over the south.

I have three Dalmatians and an English Bull Terrier. They eat anything but I limit the amount of offal the spotted loons have because of the purine content and as a breed they are known for stone forming. The pup is a bit fussy and prefers meat chunks to mince but they all eat beef, lamb, venison, chicken, turkey and oily fish. They have bones and carcasses and necks too. I also give them goat's milk and eggs.

I also get reduced meat from the supermarket, Aldi had chicken quarters 30% off today so they went straight in the freezer!

I also sometimes get chicken mince and carcasses from They Love It but the pup isn't that keen on it. Easy to order from though and usually get delivery next day.

Mine has chicken carcases that I used to get from the most local butcher (60 for £7, each chopped in half so 120 meals for £7) but now get for free from a local-to-work homegrown farm shop. He has pork from 1st butcher, loads of meaty ribs and things that I order a big box of. I get big beef bones from that butcher as well, but they are 50p each. The second butcher is fab, I can get lamb ribs, pork knuckles, beef knuckles and marrow bones and now the chicken, all for free, and it is all home produced and butchered and has good amounts of meat left on :-) Then he has dog mince from the butcher, which is all the offal and stuff mixed up and mixed with mince, frozen whole fish, eggs, tinned fish, and I get frozen tripe mince from the pet shop, chunks if I can get it. If you are worried about smaller bones then feed it frozen - my boy will swallow chicken carcasses in 2-3 bites if defrosted, but chews them well when frozen, he has almost all his bones frozen.

It is only relatively recently I have discovered the cheaper ways to find stuff, but it is worth asking in local butchers for "dog bones" and carcasses, I don't buy from a RAW supplier as it all comes in too big a frozen lump for me to use in time - my dog mince is fresh so I split it into 2-3 days supply before freezing, then just keep it in the fridge for that time. Be aware some butchers won't offer anything other than beef knuckles for dogs as they believe other bones to be dangerous, but if you tell them it's ok then they can sometimes be persuaded :-)

I have malamutes, and a samoyed.
Supply wise, I order in 15kg of chicken carcasses from a local butcher every 10 days or so £7.00
Fish offcuts from our local fishmonger - free
Meat offcuts/bones/offal/etc local butcher - free.
Yoghurt, veggies, fruit, cottage cheese, eggs - local supermarket.

My 'offcut butcher' gets really excited with what he's given me each week (usually get a binbags worth of stuff), and one week he gave me three pigs heads - my guys loved them. I did hack them up a bit just to allow them to get a tooth hold!

With bones, remember don't feed weight bearing bones of large animals as they are too tough for teeth!

I have a Labrador and border collie, I order in from raw2go and landywoods and also sometimes get meat direct from abattoir which includes whole hearts, livers, breast bones etc :-)
