So starting raw is hard for some because you can't imagine what its like, how to put it together and what you should put together.

So i figured we could have this thread and get it stickied.

Basically as often as you remember post photo's of your dogs meal.

Now Abe usually doesn't get his food in a bowl but i put it in the bowl so i could take photo's and then just chucked it all outside.

Raw by AussieHike!, on Flickr

Today Abe is on a light meal because he had dehydrated raw yesterday.
So he has a few shrimp (raw, shell on) a beef rib a chicken wing and an egg.

Next :D

Ricoh caught and ate a whole bunny last week that made him excruciatingly constipated; I scored two more from the butcher today, these will be served with large quantities of cooked veg to, ahem, ease their passage. :o

PLEASE never give your dogs corn on the cob! It is one of the most common causes of obstruction needing surgery,it simply does`nt break down in the gut, shifts along a bit ,and presto very ill dog.I have known too many die as a result, and just this summer a dog here who had been to a barby had typical symptoms. It did`nt show on scan or x ray,but they went in anyway and fished it out.A well dog ..but £700 later!

Kernels nibbled off - cob removed - no problem. Wouldn't give one to Ricoh as he would try and chug the whole thing down. He can't have certain kinds of bones either as he just doesn't chew, he is the kind of idiot who would get a chicken wing lodged in his gullet.

There is a certain kind of irony here in that a maize-based prescription food gave her uncontrollable diarrhoea.

Oooh, sorry, Toffee, totally missed that, no idea how :o:( Sorry. I am shamed!

A whole pig's head, seriously? I nearly hurled at the teeth in the half head I had. Saying that, I want to get to the market and get some. :o

Black cob, Bear had diarroeah one day: I had bunnies delivered and gave him one and he was right as rain afterwards: fabulous!

Im loving this thread! found it really hard to explain to people what I feed and the pics make sense!

btw- my lots current "fetish" is lamb and beef tongue... made slightly amusing when a small terrier wanders round with her lambs tongue poking out of her mouth:o;)

My six are totally into "raw" - they've had massive meaty bones from the butcher for the last three days! OH, however, prefers to feed his poofy French Poodles on Tescos cooked chicken (bones, removed of course 'cos they're cooked), cooked braising steak or (horror of horrors...), tins of Butchers! He thinks I'm SO cruel to my dogs feeding them raw.......

My local butcher saves me all the "bits" (lots of chicken wings etc) plus loads of bones. He gives me so much for £10 that I now give half to my gun dog trainer (I have a mere six dogs whilst she has eight!!!) and my daughter gets her gun dog training for free!!!:D

I buy everything from Durham Animal Feeds nowadays as it's easier than trekking down to the butchers every week in winter, with work and the horses etc.

They deliver to me every four weeks and I paid £70 the first delivery to set me up with everything I need. This month I'll pay £50.

I could make it cheaper by going to a butcher's and getting their 'slop bucket' contents for free and get whatever is on offer. But I'd rather have it all bagged up neatly and delivered to my door:p

It IS more expensive for me to feed raw than it was to use the 15kg sacks of unbranded kibble for £12....but my Inuit no longer scratches all day and my old dog no longer smells like death or have trouble chewing.

So it's worth it to me.

I'm not posting pics of the tripe/chicken/fish slop that I am feeding at the moment, it makes me hurl to look at it and I have a very strong stomach :p defrosted a bag last night, tipped it onto the floor and there was blood EVERYWHERE - thank God I was in the shed :p
