Ideas please. (not advertising, this is asking for help!)
This pony is now 19, has done 4 years at RS and now retired from this.
Would be ideal companion, still ridden and has life, but needs quieter time.

Difficult pony in that She does not like men, farriers/vets. Hates trailers and lorries and is difficult, if not impossible, to load. gets traumatised by it really, so local home would be best, unless someone has patience of a saint and time!

She is a lovely pony, Newfie, and loves one on one attention.
Where best to advertise her? Owner looking for nominal amount really, as mare is quite aged.
Could be good for child, she is quite easy to ride, sometimes a bit strong if not been out much.

Is it worth putting her out as companion or loan maybe? Where she is just now is only temporary, as owner has two other horses, pony was basically on loan to RS but now needs new home.

Thanks

Hmm I don't know if it'd be best to give her to a child- if you're after a quieter life for her and if she can be quite strong.

Um I think you should advertise her as maybe a quiet hacking pony for an older adult perhaps? Advertise her in your local paper and/or tack shop and advertise her as needing a quiet home.

Hope this helps and good luck!

light hack for an experienced light weight adult, if she is priced right i think a certain type of female rider would be interested. she sounds like she needs a lot experienced handling so I would not advertise her as a childs ride.

Why does she need a quieter life now, does she have a lameness problem or some other issue? i hope she finds a nice home

not got alot going for it, has it???

i'd either PTS...or keep it as a field ornament, TBH.

Categorically would not sell her as a child's pony, what if the child was hacking and a man walked by? I would sell her as an adult's hack, or companion, but be truthful about her quirks. Try putting her on that website for problem horses?

no, she hasn't really! She is a nice pony tho, despite her quirks, which are ok if you live local

It's men that approach her in field or yard she has problem with, not out and about, she isn't like an aggressive dog K.
Has probably been mistreated by one in previous years. She likes gay men

I was meaning if she took fright whilst a child was riding her? When selling you have to be sooo careful when it comes to kids ponies, if she's strong then she really isnt a kid's pony. It's not just the home you sell her to, it's the home that home sells her to, and if there's a potential chance someone could get hurt because of her quirks then the only thing to do is sell her as an adult's / teen's pony only. It would be like M advertising C as a child's LR pony. Yes, he's good on the LR, but for a child to handle?? not unless they were age 13 and build like a brick poo house

. Hence why he will only go to a home where there is an experienced adult to handle him. And I think that's what you need to do with this mare, she's too big for LR, and needs a home with a wealth of experience, and you need to state this in her advert.

Hope you find her soomewhere. If you were more local to me and I could see her with the farrier I would possibly have been interested...we take on the more sensitive tyoes...

Snap! I have something similar. Stressed out Newfie, nearly JA in his day but rather not go over 3' now, 18 years young, can't catch him, started rearing on hacks (but think child hung on too tight!). If you find a home, let me know!

I nearly found one on Project Horse, someone wanted a field and travelling companion and as he loads like a dream and travels well, I was going to offer him but it said lush grass so no laminitics, and as any native will be lami within an hour on lush grass, I didn't ring. Will keep him until right home turns up or will do the right thing by him I guess...

Perhaps we should start a home for stressed out neurotic newfies!

She isn't really as bad as I have painted, except the men part (and loading) She must have had a really bad experience with both. I'm hoping one of the old riders will nab her, as she was muchly loved.
If I had space, I would have her, as I have a real soft spot for the old girl. When I win lotto tomorrow

(not to buy her, but buy the land lol)
