What can I say...

While there are SOME HHO-ers who really don't have anything better to do than b*tch and grump, most of you are FAB! So kind, supportive and knowledgeable, I respect and value your presence here and your contributions to the forum.

I have developed a bit if a thick skin (bullied mercilessly for nigh on 8 years helped!), but I am proud to be my own person, to stick up for myself...

And also proud to be able to say that I know all of you :D

Carry on being amazing :D *hugs*

I have just been reading your other thread! I was going to comment on how blooming rude some of the posters are! But then thought it was fairly obvious how rude they are :rolleyes: Hmmm i'm tired:D

Ignore the rude people TG some like to mouth off on any given subject and i'm sure they have no idea how vile they can be. You enjoy your hols and judging by that lovely pic of you in your prom outfit, you're gorgeous! :D x

I really admired the way you stuck up to those people! I didn't comment as I thought enough was said but well done you coming out of it with your head held high :D

Can we have a group hug. ((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))
I stayed out of that thread as i started reading it quite late on and was very     But I thought you handled it all very well TG much more mature than the ones who b*tch and grump. :p :)

Thanks guys!! :D that really means a lot to me :o

I am quite outspoken, and it does take a lot to shut me up :p
xxxxx
Horsecrazy - Maybe see you at the yard sometimes? (or have I got the wrong person?!)

Yayyy go TG!
I don't see the point in some of the posts on there...going off topic in a horrible way and if you can't say anything nice or constructive...don't say anything!! :p :D
Enjoy your hols and know there is more nice people than grumpy ones! ;)

I haven't had time to go through the whole thread but I get the general jist. Good for you for sticking up for yourself TG.

Yep, well done TG, again didn't comment, have learned my lesson and stay off inflammatory threads!!. You carry on sticking up for yourself and have a brilliant holiday, enjoy the riding.

Was going to comment, but, I get a bit aggressive when arguing, not good :p Good on you for sticking up for yourself and for being so strong! I am the same age as you and would be in floods of tears, it's a shame that such a lovely person got picked on!
I know it's an open forum and when you post it leaves you open to comments from others but to be that rude to a young girl, or anyone is disgusting, I've seen 10year olds and teenagers  with better manners :p ;)
Forget about the people that are simply as*holes on this forum and surround yourself with some of the lovely souls on here!
I hope you enjoy your holiday TG and have a fabby time! We expect lots of pics and smiles from you! :)

Hi,
I just read that thread. I am new on here but was utterly appalled at the behaviour of whoever is sat behind their computer typing those horrid, interfering comments. grrrrr...

On the other hand there's nice people here too, it seems :)

I'm guessing 'that thread' got deleted and yeah, I'm the ******* ;)

TG, I honestly believed you had a problem with your weight as most of the threads you start seem to be about it, and as a father with a daughter, I understand how important it can be for a girl's self-esteem, (never mind her health and ability to ride), to not feel overweight, so I wanted to offer some encouragement. I should've been more aware that its a sensitive topic.

Aw, I love you TG! I don't get some people.. Are you going south when you get to Dublin? If so, make sure you visit Tramore in County Waterford (my old home) and go riding at Laketour. Also, you MUST go to Kerry, see the dolphin at Dingle bay. It is beautiful up the West coast. *sigh*

Well, I am a mother who actually 'removed' a pony from her daughter because I felt the pony was being asked to carry too much weight. The child in question is fully aware she is eating too much junk food but quite happy with that - even though I am not. I tried up until she got to 15 to offer healthy choices but you simply can't help some people when their opinions are so strong. Her pony is a light to middleweight 13.2 (but a little long backed) and she is probably 10 stone and an inch taller than you.

I have put her pony on loan as I am NOT prepared to let the pony be sold down the road because she is too silly and selfish to put the pony first. I'm not going to pander to her by buying a 'proper cob', and think she'll regret it in later life. However, that is her choice too and she'll have to live with it.

I'm also a firm believer that eating disorders can't be provoked unless there is an underlying insecurity - and the triggers are not quite so obvious as an off-the-cuff remark.

There is a reason why there is a healthy weight range and to be outside of it is inadviseable. You are clever enough to work it out for yourself and I would have said equally clever enough to work out if it is unfair to get on a particular pony. I am beginning to find these 'weight' posts possibly a bit deliberately inflammatory, and because you are a popular, cheerful and articulate member of the forum, people are tempering their answers. Just an observation, which I am equally certain you will deflect with a bouncy 'thank you'.

Ride whatever pony you like and simply don't tell us or ask our opinion. That way nobody gets upset!

And yes, this is a tetchy reply. This morning a very wonderful pony is being PTS because its owners ignored my repeated warnings about his weight and laminitis and I am utterly devastated. The was no need for this. FAT KILLS! If people got such a life threatening condition, there would be no pussy-footing about with the recommendations.

R.I.P. Little man xxx

Thank-you. He certainly has 'character'...when can you pick him up? :D

Oohh straight away :D

No idea what's going on, but have a hug and a hot choccy :)

Yum :D

On another note, are you feeling a bit better now? Xx

Walkingman - thank you for your concern :o I kinda know where you're coming from now, and rest assured come September I'll be thinking a bit more carefully about what I eat, just that I have almost no structure to my day till then, unless I'm working or riding. I'm also not gorging on chocolate either, I have a relatively healthy diet anyway! Its not that bad!! x

*sigh*

Argh, were not going there! :( We are going through Wicklow, and popping down to Kerry for for days to stay near my best friends :D My dad really wants to go to Dingle, so hopefully well see the dolphin (Fungie, isn't it?)

Brighteyes... What can I say? I am awfully sorry that the little man was so ill, RIP xx

With regards to using my judgement, I asked the hho-ers because I genuinely did not know. When i started riding, I was never put on smaller ponies much. The places I started at only really had 13-14hh, it wasn't very big, and probably not the best place to start riding, but I'm glad I did start as now I have an amazing pastime to keep me fit and sane. Also, I haven't even seen pics of this 12hh pony I might have ridden. I don't know how stocky it is, so had no clue. I though asking the forum-ers would be my best option.

I really do value your opinion, as an instructor you are a lot more knowledgeable than me. but we really don't seem to agree on anything. Maybe putting me on user ignore would be best for us? Ta for thinking of me, and I hope daughter and pony get sorted out soon x

Just wanted to say as I actively DIDN'T reply to that thread that I think those people behaved was appauling.

What do people want? you not to ride and have fun just cos you're not a size 8? You only get one life on this planet - don't waste it listening to that kind of drivel...

If you lived near me I'd let you ride my horses!

Have a great holiday

Blitz

Let's not turn this thread into a replica of the other thread, eh?? :o
Put all this to the back of your mind and enjoy your hols - I'm off on hol, you're off on hol, beee happy!!!! :D

T_G, I just have to say how much I admire your unbelievably good nature :) your posts are always an absolute joy to read, you clearly love the horses you ride and have an incredible attitude to learning more about them. If you're half as patient with the horses as you are with some people on this forum, then they're very lucky to have met you.

Three cheers, hun, enjoy your holidays because you deserve them. Have a hot chocolate on me :p

Hi TG, I think you always come across on the forum as a nice positive knowledgeable person who I would be happy to spend time with in real life, so don't worry about the (sometimes rather vocal) oddballs, most people on here seem genuinely sane and friendly.

Didn't see your thread, but I think how you carry yourself on a horse is it as important as how much you weigh, so if you have any concerns then just concentrate always carrying your own weight when riding.

A instructor recently pointed out to me that the harder you work when riding, holding yourself in the correct position, the more relaxed you look - how ironic is that!!

Have a great hols.

Thank you guys! :o:D

Better not start offering out rides or I'll be turning up on your doorstep, helmet in hand, fairy cakes in the other going 'come on then, off we go!!' :D

I am conscious of my position, I know it will help ne become more secure as I work on it. No stirrups for me! xx

Ta Redmone!

Hehe, I love asking questions, sometimes I have to stop myself! :D

How is the new pony doing? Looks sooo pretty! xx

P.S. Mmmm fruit and nuuuuttt *scampers off to buy some and read a good book while munching!*

TG - I am sorry I didn't read your thread after the first page yesturday.

Some of the comments were pretty mean and its a shame that it got into a slanging match.

The simple fact is that we are all built differently. If I wanted to be skinny I would have to be on the treadmill for 8 hours a day. Even when I was hidiously skinny (we are talking got sent to the doctors because waistline got smaller than neck) I still weighed in as "obese" on the BMI scale.

Use your judgement which I am sure you will in any case.

I have seen some riders bigger than you ride their horses as though they were a feather and I have seen light tiny riders slumped like potatoes on their horses backs. I have seen all sorts.

I am glad that you are ok about it all and just wanted to say good on you for sticking up for yourself.
