We successfuly got up at 4 am this morning to go to Gt Witchingham. Hubby warmed up well for dressage - and then bronced in both canters....which trashed his score (more so than usual!!). We were all thrilled with his trot work though....

A quick swap of tack and I stuck some boots on then hubby hit the show jumping collecting ring...literally.

After a few big, fast jumps, Bob over jumped the vertical practice fence (down hill) and as he landed, he stood on the back of his front rubber overreach boot with a hind foot.

He head butted the ground and span 180...skidding along on his knees and then his head and saddle for about 18 foot, throwing hubby in front of him. As they stood up, hubby reached out to grab him and it was at this point he realised his arm wasnt working.... that was at 11am this morning. Poor hubby had to drive the lorry the whole 2 hour trip home with only his left hand !

We have just got back from a&e...his shoulder is very badly dislocated - but they cant put it in for him until Monday as they have no one available to do it !

Bob is fine...no injuries other than a bloody lip. Many thanks to the kind lady who caught him and walked him round while hubby waited for the paramedics.

It could have been far worse - Hubby even asked the paramedics if they could strap it so he could continue , the nutter. The whole shoulder bone is poking through his skin, it looks disgusting.

So Ive now got 4 horses to do and a full time job to hold down....anyone know how to work a hoover ? and just what exactly are "white" and "coloured" loads ??

Oh no!

They wouldn't get the on call orthopods to manipulate his shoulder? OMG

How will he sleep?!

Glad he and pony are ok though.

Can't help you with the "hoover" though, not sure what it is...?!

Sounds seriously painful. Only way is up I suppose! As for "hoover" its only use is keeping the inside clean enough so you can use it to suck spare change from behind the settee although I have heard malicious rumours it is used for "cleaning"..?!?

Am not a fan of overreach boots for that very reason
hope your hubby gets well soon- we were supposed to be at GW on fri but lorry had flat battery- just wasnt meant to be
things can only get better (so they say!)

Nope- they just told him to get some over the counter pain killers and sent him home in a sling... evidently the bone man isnt in until Monday afternoon....

Hes asleep in the arm chair at the mo. Poor sod... its his right hand too...

Hes been doing so well too. Both his horses are bonkers so theres no way I will ride them while he's incapacitated... looks like my pessoa will be busy!

Gosh that sounds horrible - I'm glad they are both ok and hope he survives till Monday (don't you love the NHS!). I would concentrate on the horses as the housework sounds WAAY beyond you! ; - )

Oh my

You need to shout very loudly in A&E. Have been reliably informed it is the only way to get things done properly. Or mention that you are a solicitor/barrister and specialise in claims against the NHS - you'll be amazed at the standard of treatment.

Best wishes to your OH though XX

Poor G, he must be in so much pain. I cannot believe the hospital have sent him home in that state! what on earth!!!

bloody NHS.

Gentle hugs to G, i am relieved to hear Bobster is okay. Poor you, thats not gonna help your nerves when you go again is it.

I have 4 to do daily before work too, its okay once you get into a routine.

Vxx

OUCH! Poor Hubby!!! Glad that apart from that nasty fall and hubby's injury nothing more serious happened......

uuummmm whites and coloureds? Dont know..... I have problems recognising an iron, let alone understanding what it does!

However I have a very domesticated 14 yr old who knows how to operate a hoover! Would you like to borrow him?

Ouch, that sounds really painful, must have been before we arrived. There was a discarded white rubber O/R boot next to that jump, was it yours?

I'll write a report tomorrw as we were so late back, am delighted with the pony though!

Ouch that sounds very painful! So sorry to here about this bad start to the season

Hope your hubby is feeling better! And I hope that you have better luck for the rest of the season!

poor Gary and Bob, I must have missed all that excitement while I was out doing photos for eventingworldwide as my poor boy didn't have his first intended run yesterday as my jockey had a crashing fall at Towerlands on one of her horse's and has 3 broken ribs! Suggest we put her and Gary under house arrest to commiserate.
I can offer help with nags if you're desperate but try not too admit to being domesticated or hubby will give up cleaning while I play with horses.
All the best to the wounded soldiers.

awww I do feel sorry for you! Give your husband a big kiss and get him to put his feet up preferably out of the way so that he cannot make your house untidy, the only other thing you can do is summon help from someone who would muck out for you for the week?

Thanks for all your kind words. Apparantly its not dislocated - its worse than that. He has an A-C shoulder seperation! Sadly its a matter of time until the bone settles back into position (basically the wing bone smacked upwards into his main shoulder bone (under his withers!) and knocked it up into the air and the shoulder cap end.

Weve now got to wait til tomorrow to see what the specialists say.

Today Ive worked the hoover, the washing machine, the tumble drier, the washing line with traditional pegs (!), mucked out the stables, ridden one and lunged one and now Im cooking supper. Look at me go. Hopefully Ill still be awake to eat it............
