Had a phone call from a neighbour whose house sits at the far end and overlooks our horses' field this afternoon about our two horses. I thought at first he was going to complain about something (I have only ever spoken to him twice in passing)
He started out by saying that first of all he just wanted to say how lovely it is to have horses in the park (I was waiting for the "BUT...") but he went on to say how fantastic it was to see horses so well looked after and obviously loved. He said he'd often seen the lights on in the field (-horses live out 99% of the time with access to the stable) last thing at night ( I go out and check them before bed) and that he and his wife feel strongly about animal welfare and that they felt they just had to let us know how impressed they and their next door neighbour are.
At the time I was mopping up dog sick
and getting a phone call like that really lifted my mood. Sadly, it's all too rare that someone will go out of their way to tell you "well done" and it really restored my faith in humanity. Sorry, just had to share!
