As title for christmas my parents said they want to give me a pair of nice riding boots i love my current short ariats but want a long pair to ride. I wear wellies around the yard so just want a pair to ride in but i have found my ariats not at all waterproof but just so comfy. Thinking about the bromonts and like the insulated ones but are they too warm to ride in in summer??

also like the look of mountain horse ones but they are so bulky i like to be able to 'feel' the horse as feel i can give better aids...

any thoughts??

I've had 3 pairs of MH, 2 rimfrost, both split across the foot and were poor quality despite the price, 2nd pair was a gift else I never would have bought them again!

3rd pair of proper leather high rider or whatever they are called, did me competing once a week for about a year, now in use for every day as the leather on the indside of the leg is so worn they look terrible. My friend had a hunting accident a couple years ago and would have lost his leg but for the leather MH he was wearing though, so I will probably keep buying leather MH when I can afford them.

Very comfy and I find I can get 'closer' to my horse in them than in any other boots I've ever had (the eather ones, not the rimfrost jobbies) despite them looking bulky. They flatter my short chunky legs too, being bulky they make my legs look less so!!

I really love my Mountain Horse high riders. They are really grippy in the stirrups, I have worn them for daily riding for the past year. I compete in them too, they still polish up well. They have a good 'feel', are comfy and keep your feet balanced in your stirrup. They are warm too, though they do leak a little if I trudge through puddles in them. They are tough too, surviving my leg being trapped in a gate which blew shut on us out hacking, horse dragged me through it - not a mark on my boots.
I even wore them round town in the snow last winter! So this year I decided to invest in some Ariat Windermeres for wearing for non-riding activities! Partly to save my high riders... I am very pleased with the quality and comfort of the windermeres and they are waterproof, and at £130 I think a bargain in comparison with the rubbish on the high street.
