Can anyone reccomend any books aimed at people who are retraining or rebreaking ex racers/ polo horses etc?

Or any other books aimed at training young (4-5yo) horses that may also be useful?

Thanks

I've always scrapped the books tbh

Go back to basics with them, getting them to accept a contact is usually the biggest hurdle, and once the very basics are established (goes off the leg, comes back off the hand without being scared of them) you can start training them as you would any other riding horse.
As soon as you have the basics you're best of forgetting that they've raced/played polo otherwise you'll forever make excuses for them

Treat them as a blank canvas!

Then either 'Dressage with Kyra' or Reiner Klimke's book that fairhill suggested then...

Even if your friend is allergic to the thought of anything dressage they are still good building blocks.

Chris Bartle's 'Training the Sport Horse' is also fantastic, and gives an idea of how training with the young horse should progress.
