As title, really! My loan cob came with a stable rug and a turnout rug, both unbranded. They are both starting to rip and come apart at the seams, so I reckon it's worth me investing in some new ones so I can patch the old ones up and keep them as spares.

The thing is that I last had to buy a rug about 15 years ago

and I seem to recall that there was a choice between Weatherbeeta and Weatherbeeta... The range available now baffles me!!

So, any recommendations for brands that do rugs with integrated necks that will be good for a chunky cob?

Many thanks, in advance!

My meaty heavyweight boy has a shires and a rambo wug, both of which fit really well around the shoulders. I also have a fal for him, which fits at a size bigger than he would usually have. Hope this helps

Wow - I really wasn't expecting so many replies!! Thank you so much everyone! Will toddle off to do some research based on your suggestions.

Thanks!

I buy my big chested cobby type rugs off ebay, they fit really really well, my mate buys them for her cob too and she is even broader chested than my mare

If you want the sellers user name pm me and i can let you know, not only are they good quality but they fit broad chested types, and generally 20quid and under to buy, plus 12quid postage

Thank you for all your suggestions guys - you're helping to seriously damage my credit card!!

Puss_in_boots - will PM you!

I got a fab new winter turnout from weatherbeata which was a bargin and fits my MH hunter well. He also has a rambo for outdoors, rhino and masta for indoors. A collective wardrobe!

I had enormous problems trying to find rugs for my broad chested cob. I have now bought him a Rambo XL rug from Horserugs4u.com and it fits perfectly. You can get them in medium and heavy weight. I would thoroughly recommend.

depends on how chunky your horse is, but I find mine are too chunky for Fal, weatherbeeta, masta, mark todd, pretty much all that has been suggested above. The only rugs that fit well and don't rub are rambo xl, he big boy has one in each of the three weights, lite, med and heavy. They are expensive, but worth it. If buying any other type make sure it has shoulders darts, most important for chunky types.
I had a fal slumberdown stable, they have darts and fitted well, just come up v big so would suggest you buy a smaller size than normal.
