I'm wanting to loose a stone really i weigh 12stone and want to shift down to 11 but recently my weight doesn't want to shift! (slimming world doesn't work) I'm getting quite paranoid when on my boy as I'm trying to fatten him up not me! I just seemed to have lost motive for gym. I've got quite muscly legs from kickboxing and obv riding, but my belly isn't muscly!

Any recommendations ladies?

:o

The harcombe diet. I've struggled to loose the last 10pounds after having my little girl. It's fallen off with this diet.

It's about regulating your insulin levels, which is the hormone responsible for fat storage.

It really makes sense and is easy to stick to, with a bit of willpower!!!

Can't recommend on diet but exercise wise the only thing that shifts the excess fat is cardio. Me and mum have been doing theNHS couch to 5k.. Well worth a go as it build up really slowly and is a good consistent exercise plan, Good luck :)

Well I was going to say Slimming World, as I have recently lost three stone doing their plans, so it worked for me, really don't have any other suggestions for you, other than stick at it, as it does work, sometimes you just need to change what you eat. Anyway good luck with what ever you decide:)

Ooooh I'll give this a google! Thankyou

Weight watchers.
Stupidly easy to follow, you can still eat the same things you do now ..... though you might want to cut quantity when you realise how many points it is!
I lost 3st in 2010 in 16 weeks (after having baby) and have kept it off by carrying on the principles.

cardio isn't the only thing that shifts fat weight training is also very effective and interval training more than just running.

I would think of it less as a diet and more of a healthy lifestyle change whichever you chose to follow, more likely to stay off that way.

DIETS DONT WORK people end up putting it back on.
Iv lost a stone and plan on another and the way iv done it is by simply eatting healthy with the odd treat. It's all about watching what u eat and exercise

I've lost weight without even meaning to (8st 5lbs and 5' 4", so not needing/expecting to). I changed my diet because I always felt so awful, no energy etc. Had some help from a friend who's into nutrition (a bit alternative) but basically overnight I gave up complex carbs and quite a bit of plain sugar, and caffeine - so no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, tea, coffee. Will admit to still having cereal for breakfast... Anyway, my energy levels have bounced up (getting up at 6 no longer a struggle) and I have lost weight (about 3lbs in ten days, not weighed self for a bit - only get to when I borrow my mate's scales to weigh the cat...) and am changing shape - losing the stubborn saddlebag fat I never thought would go. I still eat loads - well, I'm not hungry, anyway. Lots of meat, fish, eggs, veg, homemade smoothies, soups, nuts and berries, herbal teas and loads of water. And large glass of wine per night! :D Don't miss the carbs at all, to my surprise. Only problem is the cost - carbs are cheap :(

Eat less, exercise more? Lost 2 stone last year doing this. Just lost another half a stone recently. Also, go from full livery to DIY. Worked a treat for me.

weight watchers! I lot 4 stone on the old plan with them, wasnt as good or as liveable as the new plan is!

I have been a helper at a ww meeting for around 4 years now and wouldn't look back!

Also, if you look at it as a DIET you will never lose weight and keep it off! you need to learn about what you're eating and why you're eating it and CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

if you do a fade diet, like no carbs, you are only going to put the weight back on once you've stopped the DIET!

I believe that even if you decide against joining a weight loss group, you should allow yourself everything in moderation! any time you cut a food group out of your diet then all you're going to do is crave it! having a little bit of what you like might result in a slower weight loss but it will eventually be more maintainable and you won't feel deprived !

OH AND GOOD LUCK

Cut out grains ie wheat, oats, rye, rice, (so no bread, cakes, cereals, pasta etc) and eat loads of veg, fruit, salad and moderate amounts of meat/fish/dairy/nuts and seeds. Works a treat and makes you feel great and its dead easy. :)

This. Check what you eat, and cut out any empty calories. Ie sweets crisps, fizzy drinks and sugar. Stop adding butter to pasta, potatoes etc, and up your veggie intake. I lost a stone doing this, and feel much better.

It just depends on the person … I don’t think one fix works for all …
I.e Im 31, eat the worse diet you could think of (think chippy, curry, pizza – no veg, fruit) and Im a size 8. The only difference is my hectic lifestyle … Im constantly rushing about and graze all day like a horse ha (lots lots of small portions rather than one meal then another one 4 hrs later) – I then tend not to have a massive meal at night as Im pretty full anyway… plus if you think about it .. you eat during the day and you’re busy working off calories without realising it .. you eat a big fat tea at night then sit on the sofa watching corrie and the food just sits there in your stomach.
My hubbie used to be a personal trainer .. he said best thing to lose weight is water, water water … don’t spend hours in the gym – anything more than 30 mins is a waste … just eat what you are but say half the portion … ?? and drink lots of water … he said he’s seen large women in the gym every night year after year and their weight doesn’t change … it’s just who you are and some bodies are meant to be a certain size no matter what you do. x

I did the Harcombe diet not to loose weight but cos I too felt bloody awful with no energy etc. it made me feel sooo much better and I lost weight too. Easily and from where I wanted to loose it from, my muffin top lol!!!

It's in 3 phases. Detoxy type one (my definition not hers) then weight loss, then maintenance.

I need to get back on the bandwagon, she says whilst drinking wine after a shed load of chocolate! :o
I started so well, and have had some good times but after my holiday feel rather blubbery! I really would like to lose a good stone.
I am considering cycling to work as parking is becoming more and more ridiculous, I know that would help but its not exactly the best weather to start cycling 14 miles a day in! I would save money and lose weight but I have not progressed from the thinking side of things yet :D

I genuinely dont see the point in dieting unless it is an amazing diet that youll stick to for forever.

If you want to lose weight the general rules I go by are:
Always eat a good brekkie (not too sugary)
Eat crap foods if youre craving them but in small amounts and savour it.
No night time snacks - Im really bad for this. I worked out I was eating like an extra 300 cal a day from it :O
The obvious rule - burn the calories you eat. If youre not motivated to go to the gym then stick some dance tunes on, stick on a top that is too small for you and someone said to me the other day "think of the boy you fancy" ...... I know we dont get fit for men but it did get me out on a run ;)

If its your stomach you want tosort out - youre going to need to work out not just diet.

Maybe I should turn the weekend poo pick into sprinting poo pick :)

Lol, I love this! /\ Sometimes I do this to some degree as I have spent so many hours playing with the pony and started the chores very late on and have to dash about!:D

youre going to need to work out not just diet.

Totally agree with this /\
It is the exercise that has always done the most work for me in terms of shedding extra weight for sure, I am currently a bit of a lazy piglet :D
