I am on the hunt for a pair of long leather riding boots! I am a size 5 (sometimes slightly smaller) and have tiny calfs but long-ish legs, which is always a problem when I've tried on gaiters and boots in the past! What would you recommend? Pics and links would be great :)

equitector!

lovely boots with a toe cap, hard wearing, good range of widths and lengths etc. and the service when I got mine was excellent! The guy actually stretched the instep of a pair for me :)

they are now 6 years old and still look great despite heavy use (hunting once or twice a week, plus some eventing and so on....)

Equitector gets my vote too! I've had mine seven years, had to get some stitching redone last year but these boots are sooo comfy and a lovely slim fit and still look great even after being trod on by welsh d and haffy!!!!

MJC - Had a look, they do have some nice boots!
Nancie + Farma - I love Ariats, it's what I have been wearing for the last 5 + years, most comfortable boots I have ever worn! Also like the Bromonts!
Alex2601 - I like these, but they look very chunky in the toe area which has left me wondering if I would be able to actually get my foot in the stirrup?!
Showpony - Not a fan I'm afraid!
JenHunt + OldHat - They look a little "simple" ?

Hmm, am I just being super fussy?! I'd get a pair of Dubarrys but competing in them is a bit of a nono!

Ariat Bromonts seem to be designed with long slim calves in mind. They are so comfy from first wear, too.

I have Bromonts and loved them until last week when i got some De Niro's. Fit like a glove. No wearing in and like slippers from the start. Made me not like my Bromonts now :(

Freddiesgal - it is reassuring to know that folks still have problems even at the other end of the scale. Having spent literally hours trawling the net and reading everything I could re: sizing I gave up on find long boots - leather or otherwise that would fit my calves - on account of them being too big! I'm no lightweight, probably heavier than I should be, but I don't think I'm excessive yet I couldn't find anything to fit my wide calves and in the finish went down the route of jodphur boots and the widest half chaps I could find. Luckily these were a really smart black leather pair that nearly gives me the look and feel of smart long boots when teamed with black jodhpur boots, but they were unique in being the ONLY pair I could find that stood a chance of being big enough. If I ever started to compete and went into an event that insisted on long boots I literally wouldn't be able to comply unless I went down the expensive bespoke boots route.

Maybe chaps would work for you too, and if anyone ever finds a source of long off the peg boots with a 17" calf :o then please PM me!!
