I've been trying to find a standard neck 100g rug for my welsh cob and am losing the will to live, I cannot find a suitable rug anywhere!!
I won't buy another masta after having a couple of them disintegrate after one winter. I bought a rhinegold one cheap online, and it's a lovely rug, but seems warmer than his mediumweight- very thick filling and he's too warm in it. Got a shires tempest rug to try on today and it comes down to past his knees, even though its a good fit everywhere else.
I was hoping to not spend more than £60-70 on it, and ideally looking for a well-known brand that I can buy and try on from a saddlery, rather than online where I would have to pay to send it back.
His old one is a weatherbeeta freestyle, and has lasted years but I bought it when he was 3 years old, and he has outgrown it. The new style weatherbeetas look to have huge tail flaps, and he hates long ones that flap in the wind- I find him in the field repeatedly bucking on the spot! If it was a cheap rug I would happily cut the tail flap off entirely, or get the sewing machine out and shorten it, but I don't really want to pay loads of money for a top of the range rug and then ruin it with my dodgy sewing skills!
Does anyone know a good rug I could try next, or if anyone has a sale on??
Thanks
