My mare always comes in from the field and rubs her bum against the wall lengthily and with great relish. The top of her tail ends up looking like the proverbial bog brush within minutes 
As it's a summer problem, I think it's probably due to irritation rather than pin worms. She's not in much during the summer so it's not much of a problem until now. Now.... when it's still summer(ish) and she's starting to come in at night. I was thinking of trying Benzyl Benzoate as I'd read good reports, but I also read that it really needs to be used from the start of the itchy season, not at the end.
I've bathed her tail and it's clean but is there anything I can apply to her dock to help stop her rubbing it because it itches? Calamine? Itch Stop? Something else?
