I'm looking for a good quality but reasonably priced drop bridle for my dressage cob - we've been using a cheapo Shires or Cottage Craft one for a bit just to trial it, and he's going so well so I want to get a decent bridle before we go to our next competition...

I recently bought a gorgeous bridle from Evison Equine for my other horse, lovely leather and it was in the sale so got it for about £80 for a rolled AND patent (lol!) crank noseband and black diamante browband and nice dressage reins. For someone who has only had plain brown tack til now it was quite a step up but it's pretty subtle and I love it :-)
I wish now that I'd bought a drop in the sale too, but didn't think to. They have plain drop bridles on at £55 now but I'd quite like something not plain, maybe with a U browband or rolled.

So - rambling over, can anyone recommend where I can look? Drops don't seem to be the easiest to track down - either real cheap-o on Ebay or really expensive from top brands! I'd like to pay under £100 ideally.

Thanks

I love English Bridles. Excellent quality and very good value for money. They modify them at no extra cost so even if there's no drop noseband as standard you should be able to get one

How about one of these? I bought my double from here as I had a bit of a tight budget, it's more blingy and shiny than I've ever had (usually buy Sabre sensible stuff). Leather is nice and soft, price is good and delivery was pretty prompt :)
Don't be put off by the dutch, I stuck anything that wasn't automatically translated through google translate ;)

Ohh like the look of the Hypostore stuff! Although just want to see if it's possible to get it without the bling browband...not sure I can handle patent AND diamante!!

haha, nor was I ;) and in fact I have since bought a 'plain' patent browband for when it's all too much for my sensible head to cope with.
I'm really pleased with my Hypostore bridle though, it's not top top quality but that's no surprise for the price, and I'm usually very picky and I think it's perfectly good for daily use and shows, fits well and cleans up nicely.

How was the sizing? My 2 are annoyingly usually Full size but needing cob cheekpieces!

Mine is full around the crown and cob on cheeks and nose in Sabre and Jeffries tack. I bought a cob size in the double because I didn't want the noseband to be too big and knew the big droopy browband would be plenty roomy enough ;) - it was a gamble as the buckles are across the poll with limited adjustment but it's fine. The cheekpieces are on the last hole but a full size would swamp her I think.

I have a premiera bridle too, for my welsh coblet! Email them, they are SOO helpful, i asked for the measurements of the pony and cob size bridles to get a perfect fit and i got them really quickly, i love my bridle! Though it is fairly ggenerous, my pony size mare is on the top hole of all straps on the cob and could make it huge on the last hole!

I love English bridles stuff too... Sadly though when I was looking for a drop noseband bridle they ignored both my email via the website and Facebook messages enquiring. Not great customer service sadly.

I went elsewhere and bought a lovely bridle from another company, which was sad as I LOVE my leather girth and stirrup leathers from them.

as drop nosebands IMO arnt as popular as they used to be u can sometimes find some really good old english ones on ebay.if u are lucky u can even get job lots of old english tack.clean them all up with saddle soap and neatsfoot oil.

All sorted! After lengthy discussions with Evison (they're very helpful and patient!) they've sorted a customised one out for me. Predominantly Cob size, with a Full browband. Patent drop noseband, rolled rest of the bridle, tastefully discreet crystal U browband. All for £62.50 as its still in the sale!
