Red Patent John Whitaker Bridle

Lol paddymonty, u can rescue him, use your much higher skilled ridding than me to re school him but I will be claiming him back once your done :-p deal? Lol alternatively I could just pop his black bridle back on ..... But that would just be boring :-)

I have a red zilco bridle which I sometimes use for hacking / TREC and if we ever get round to it, endurance. I sometimes use the red and black reins for xc schooling as they're divinely comfortable and grippy.

However, I don't like the patent and the black lining/edging on that and I don't think it looks "right" for smart work on a smart horse. I also think it looks quite cheap :o

Horse is lovely though ;)

im a hater im affraid - only very conservative tack here although i just won a bid on a dimonte V brow band so could be converted but never to the extent of coloured tack! sorry!! x

Now that I've looked at the pics again I feel I may have been a little hasty. On reflection and taken in to account other information I think it looks absolutely fantastic :o

Well actually I think it's kind of fun although perhaps not for a 50yo lady so I won't be acquiring one but I am confused, on the first and second pics you seem to have the martingale attached to the noseband like a standing but that makes it far too short although it's put right later.

I certainly wouldn't use it as a show bridle though:D

Yeah I wanted to get him a standing so was just playing about but when I actually borrowed a friends standing he is very choppy and uncomfortable so I've decided to sit back and try and dodge the head butts instead :-)

Loved it seeing it hanging on a peg-but got to say not (quite) as impressed when viewing it on a horse!
Still like it though :D

Well i guess its better for you to like the horse and hate the bridle than the other way round ;)

Sorry but I hate it. Its just too darn red and shiney for my taste. Your horse is so handsome but this imediately draws your attention to what the ? is this horse wearing on its head, instead of complimenting his good looks. He will stick out at a show like a badly dressed exhibitionist in a red mini skirt at a family christening.

Not a fan personally, a friend threatened me with one as a joke when we saw them in the shop :p I also think the dublin boots and webbing bridles are horrible though. I have an australian nut bridle that I really like but it would only suit certain horses.

Calling all HHO'ers! We need to mount one of our famous rescue missions to save this poor beasty from shocking fashion choices, just donate £10 towards a trailer to bring him to a home where he will have brown/black tack!

Ha ha, I also had a red zilco bridle for endurance, I planned to be all patriotic and mix and match it with navy and white, but in practice it looked hideous on a chestnut mare... I did however swap it for a full navy blue Zilco deluxe set, breastplate and martingale to match!

I think it loks quite nice on a grey. It would look okay on a black horse or very dark brown, but could you imagine it on a chestnut? Yuk!

No donations necessary. As soon as I find out where he is located I shall be removing the poor boy to a more sensible environment. :D

Would I put it on my horse? No. My mother would pitch a fit and I struggle to even use saddle cloths that aren't brown as I am so indoctrinated. Nitty has a clencher browband and noseband on her work bridle and that's as 'lairy' as I would ever go. BH wears completely plain tack. I don't have any 'matchy matchy' or 'bling'

However, I don't hate it at all on someone else's horse. I think it looks good on your boy. I actually prefer it to some of the really sparkly browbands people post photos of :o

Just as i was starting to get disheartened that i really have taste that bed you last few have cheered me up....off to search for matching breastplate now :D

Just look how boring he looks in black...he he :p
