Heya everyone,

As above, Have abit of a moral problem at the moment and it sounds like this:

I know a person (we'll call her Gemma) who loaned a pony. Jumped the pony and it ended up with leg injury. Left the pony at the yard for the owners to deal with,hobbling about the field not a care for the injured pony at all. also owing yard livery and other outstanding££'s.

Jump a year - She's on a friends land with cheap livery.
A friend is having some trouble looking after her horse and "Gemma" offers to take horse for abit so person can get back on her feet. Person paying for shoes ect -- no shoes are being put on and "Gemma" claims there's been a problem with horse it's dangerous and only fit for a companion horse. Poor girl takes "Gemma" at her word and "Gemma" offers £300 for "unsafe to ride" horse.
Couple of months later unsafe horse is sold on for a few thousand pus part ex on another horse.

Couple of months after that she tries same ploy again, with another person I know, takes horse when person was having some problems. Taking ££'s for shoes and hay, horse not getting shoes. This persn wised up to what was happening and took her horse back (thanksgod)

And now -- She loaned a pony from another young girl. Girl sadly lost her mum to cancer. "Gemma" offered to help her out by taking her mums horse to this bit of land -- now claiming this horse is dangerous and offering pennies for horse. All the while boasting to friends that she's not giving her the other pony back at the end of the loan either.


Would you get involved or just leave it?

Sounds a very nasty person to do something like to anyone let alone a child who has lost their mum to cancer. Can you have a quiet word with the child's guardian or dad and give them the heads up?
 
She is scum and not many stages evolved from the cunning rat of a girl lets call her J*** that sold me a rearer as a rc safe ride. I would get very involved this is deception in terms of money for shoes and selling on PS: in the eyes of the law she is now a dealer as she is selling horses in the course of a profit making activity.
 
She makes me sick.

I know the previous people that have been ripped off but don't know this other girl so well. And not well enough to know her father.
I feel I need to do something, it's driving me nuts :mad:
I just keep thinking, if someone was doing this to one of my children I'd pray someone would step in. The girl is 16-17
 
I would definitely get involved.
Do you know the 3rd girl well enough to have a chat with and explain the previous situations you know about ?

I would do what I could to help anyone in these circumstances.
 
I'd get involved, surely it's fraud - perhaps some advice from BHS or the local police - I know the police probably will not want to get involved but worth a try.
 
I would get involved. I knew someone who had sold a horse whilst on loan. I then heard about another horse missing whilst on loan to this person on another forum, and was able to find out what had happened to it. It had also been sold! Funnily enough, both were sold to people on the yard, however, in the case of the first the owner turned up to visit the horse, wentballistic when it was being ridden by someone else, only to be told she owned it!
A sorry horrid mess, which was made worse by the fact no one ever got involved.
 
What a nasty piece of work!

If I knew who the loan pony belonged to I would be having a conversation and mentioning how pleased Gemma is to have been given the pony on permanent loan and how she must love it so much ;) to have said she'll never give it back! They would probably also be interested in chatting to the owner of the other pony Gemma loaned, if you have their details. If the owner has any sense alarm bells will ring and they'll get in touch with the others. I'm sure once the found out what happened they'd want their pony back ASAP, without you having to say anything bad about Gemma.

The girl whose parent had cancer I would tell her what has happened before and how you suspect the same is happening now. Assuming the first person has found out the truth about what really happened to her 'dangerous' horse, I'd ask if she would mind her phone number being given to the other two, because they're more likely believe it if they can chat to someone it happened to rather than being told it by a random person (you). Or maybe the one who got her horse back would be willing to talk to the others, though there may not be much to tell depending on what stage she got it back.

I know if someone wanted to buy my horse cheaply I'd pay attention to even a random stranger if they were telling me about how lucky the potential new buyer is, what with her last companion that she was convinced had 'x' problem turning out not to have any problems at all, and how it was sold to a lovely home for thousands a few months later!

Everyone saying exactly what I am thinking. Just always seems to be me that gets involved but I just can't stand to see it a, happening again and b, this poor girl thats been throuh so much.
 
Ok, I'm going to try and get person one involved with person 3. Hopefully if I can back it up then girl 3 will listen!

Alot of the problem is "Gemma" seems to attract all these young girlies like 14-18 and they all think sun shines out her backside and wont hear a bad word against her.
 
Become a double agent ! Play friendly with this utter low life bit%^ learn what she is up to who she is trying to rip of then warn the people discretely :D
May be worth contacting the inland revenue as I am sure she is not declaring the income.
Does she have a job ? Is she on any benefits as she could be committing benefit fraud by not declaring the income.
Charging people for services and not carrying out said services is fraud.
Record all conversations with her then play it back to the people she is trying to rip of.

Lastly Fuc$% the bit%^ up !

I'd get involved too and I think making sure you word it carefully so that the other people who are being taken advantage of know something isn't right but also you aren't seen to have a personal axe to grind as this wouldn't help your cause.

Good luck and I hope you manage to stop her taking advantage of the most recent young girl.
 
get involved, i did when an 'aquaintance' was getting a horse on loan after already having had 2 previous loans taken off her. i messaged the owner on FB and although he didn't get message until after horse had arrived he thanked me and said he would keep a close eye on things. i dithered about getting involved but felt a lot better when i did, i would want someone to warn me if the tables were turned.:)

This person sounds like a real piece of work, (that's the polite version) what is wrong with people?! Makes me sick as well.

Dob her in for fraud as well!

Reason she is giving for keeping this loan pony.

She has a young horse, 5. Nice big fella, she jumped him everyday. without fail. Horse gets lame, vets out -- xrays ect. long story short horse to get some time off. 2 months later she gets in touch with girl 3, they swap horses - - "Gemma" gets girls really nice jumping pony and girl 3 gets horse that was over jumped and lame. Girl 3 knows nothing about lame issues, works the horse, then has a jumping lesson, next day horse is lame. Girl3 takes horse back to "Gemma" but "Gemma" asks to keep loaning jumping pony, girl agrees as she found out mum was sick so it was a help.
Anyway huge rant onFB about crap vet ect and going to change vet as taking ages to see lame horse!

I know the vet, and happened to see him at our yard the very next day and I passed a comment about "should you be treating horses a "Gemma" said you were so crap ect. He laughed and remarked.... we don't see any horses unwell but some treatments don't come cheap and when people pay for treatments they will always get seen.
Around about way of saying she's not paid for first vet bill?? I think so?

Anyway, she's now blaming this girl for making her horse lame.
It was to get a year off. Then she was bringing it into light work and just last week she posted videos of the poor chap jumping a metre! at least 4 vids.

All this in the space of 2 months.
