Hi im new to posting so not sure if im allowed to put the name of the horse rescue centre on this post but it has 2 branches and is based in Brockweir in the wye valley so a quick web search should find them.

There are some nasty rumors going around about them shooting their horses and closing the centre and I wondered if anyone had any actual facts about this?

The centre closed all of a sudden just before christmas and there is no information about this on their web site....

It's HAPPA. There's lots of rumours in the local papers but they haven't issued any firm details. I gather the horses have been transferred to their other centre :) my horse is from HAPPA but they haven't told loaners what's going on either.

Shame, I used to work at the centre in brockweir, would be good to have a bit of information about what's happening :s

Yes, RM, agreed :) it's been reported elsewhere that the staff were experiencing abusive comments from members of the public :( and so the current closure is temporary to protect the staff on site :( :( I feel for them.

Just a thought and probably proves my geography leaves a lot to be desired.

Doesn't this area flood badly. Could that be the reason that they are saying the land is "unsuitable for horses"

If so its not really surprising given the weather in recent years.

I doubt it's flooded, their fields are on the side of a steep hill ;) older/unsound horses might struggle up and down them.

The yard IS very close to the river and just off main road, close to other tourist attractions. Lots of buildings and a big barn.. . Guess it's just one possible use for all the facilities and location?
