Hmmm finding a horse is hard !
So long story short, a friend sent me a link on facebook to the advert for a wonderful mare that a friend of a friend of friend of a friend ( or so i now find out  ) was selling. The advert was for a few weeks ago so i didn't think she would still be available but i nonetheless sent a message and got a wonderful prompt response - had a chat about the mare ( and why she was so cheap ) and arranged to go see her the next day. Went down to see her and absolutely loved her. The lady was lovely and said how she had had so many people contact her but they all were wanting to jump her / ride her too intensely. She said she really liked me and that the mare was mine if i wanted her - which i did. We share vet practices as we are in roughly the same area so the lady happily rang up the vets saying they could talk to us about the mare. I had a great talk with the vet who told me her problems etc. So the next day i texted to ask some more information about what workload the lady wanted her to be in, if i could come and try her again, and when would suit her for us to pick the mare up. No response for a whole day . Next day Tried Texting again, messaging on facebook - still no response. This morning i tried messaging her again on facebook only to find she had blocked me from sending messages !? (a pop up box came up everytime i tried to send her a message saying "x is unavailable at present" or some such ). She won't answer a call, even one from a number she does not know is me.

I completely understand if she does not wish to sell the mare or does not wish to sell her to me. But i would expect some sort of communication on the matter - even just a "not wanting to sell" or "no longer available" or even " dont think you are a good match" - not this preschool behavior.
Sorry rant over :p
Has anyone had similar experiences to this - is this a thing that happens?

There is nowt queer as folk sometimes, bonkers isn't it!

When I was looking for a horse it always amazed me how difficult it was sometimes to actually get in contact with the seller - do they not want to sell them?

Obviously the reality of 'Actually' selling her got too much and she backed out but felt too silly to tell you at that stage. Never mind how you find a horse to your liking soon 🙂

Thanks , I hope so ! Can't seem to find anything suitable to even go and view right now.
Wheres the best place to look for horses for sale in the highlands ?

Perhaps it's your "broken internet" or the "texting issue" you claimed to be the cause of you stringing me along all week about whether or not you were viewing my horse.

Nowt as queer as folk indeed. You've missed out on my one now, incidentally, and I would have far rathered you just said you'd been offered something else you preferred.

Perhaps think of that before you start complaining about time wasters!

Really shouldn't laugh but as my morning has not gone at all to plan so far, this has made me giggle. I may go to hell but I don't care. Well said FfionWinnie and...oh dear!

I wonder if the poster actually exists?

Had similar recently. Emailed an ad which was a couple of weeks old to check if he was still available. seller responded saying yes so I asked for some more recent pics (one was a baby photo) and a couple of general questions and said I would phone for a further chat when I got a response (I like to have some responses in writing). no response has followed even not answering a call. A simple no not available now would have let me know and saved me missing out on another which was for sale.

Unfortunate but not the sellers fault you missed out on another one...you can view as many horses as you want.

I am not blaming the seller who sold? it was my choice to hold out for the original one who was my ideal choice. Just a little annoying that his seller couldn't respond with a quick reply to let me know not to hold on as he was now sold. I would always reply to a seller if they responded with an answer that made me change my mind about viewing etc not just go to silence, Just manners

It is just good manners, I agree with that and your right to be peeved by it. Your post read that you did blane them for missing out on another horse though as I read it.

Hope you find/found something in the end.

I love it when people getting caught out on here but the person they're slagging off 😂😂

Are you sure she hasn't just been rushed into hospital or something?? There is nothing here that seems specifically aimed at you, I think you are making a big assumption. I'm not that familiar with facebook but "unavailable at the present" doesn't sound like you've been blocked to me, more like an "out of office" equivalant or technical issue.

Not the highlands but depending on what you're looking for, Avon Mill Equestrian (Falkirk way) and Lohoar Sport Horses (St Andrews) are two I wouldn't go past when looking for horses in Scotland - particularly sensible, capable Irish / WB types. I bought mine from Lohoar.

Oh just saw it was you!

Op change my mind don't go somewhere I've recommended if you're the time waster- oops!

No it's not me she's slagging off, she's complaining someone else is a time waster while she's been stringing me along about whether or not she's coming to view my horse, not the one on the OP.

Rather than just say, I'm waiting to hear about another one, I kept getting messages saying she had tried to text message me but wasn't sure it was working and her Internet had also been down so she couldn't pm me on here. She had 4 ways to contact me including a simple phone call so it sounded like bull to me, then the next thing I see this rant about another horse and it all becomes clear!

Essentially she was keeping my horse on the back burner in case the one she's ranting about didn't work out but my horse isn't looking for a "back burner home" she's looking for a home where she's the number one princess perfect hacking horse which is what the OP originally said they wanted!

Oh, I figured, as did most of us I think, that you were on rhe receiving end of being kept waiting by the OP. Fear not...don't think anyone confuses you with the subject of the OP.

Hope you do find that perfect home for your horse x

Yes but I think a couple of people thought I was being slagged off so thought I better clarify. I probably AM getting slagged off now tho!

I wasn't going to reply to it but I just thought it was a bit rich to be on here slagging off someone for not responding to her when she had been stringing me along. I don't mind if she wants to buy another horse that's fine but as I am lambing and the horses aren't at home I've gone to the trouble of transporting this one back home and having it ready to try all week when really I could do with the space and not having to pick up after it and feed it hay and so on. As it is I've badly injured my arm and I've got enough to do!

If you're going to get slagged off anyway, you might as well have fun!

Sounds like you're due an apology to me.
